Oh gawd. When doing IT support for graphic designers this was the wrost.

My random font that I always use from Corel Draw '97 is missing!

Fonts are a lot more complicated than they appear. Font formats like TTF are binary executable. Basically that means a malicious font file installed can run commands on your system just by displaying what looks like the letter m. Fonts are also processed through an interpreter engine that renders their physical display on screen. Interpreters are nortoriousy a vector of attack because of their low level system access

Which ones are you referring to? What’s is your actual use time, like 8+ hours a day without charging? I use cheap generic MPOW ones I got for $40 and they easily last me at least 2 days

fun edit:

With a jack you can listen and charge you phone at the same time

With wireless headphones you can also charge your phone and listen at the same time

Just to be pedantic; a battery is significantly larger than 2 tiny wires of copper. The battery is almost 50% of the volume in the earbud.

AptX over Bluetooth is lossless and has been available since 2016. Android only though.

I agree modern phones have the horsepower to do a full on audio production; how does a 3.5mm jack help in this setup that a multi-bus USB-C DAC or mixer can’t do a better job than a driver that’s confined to 5mm of space?

Likely the majority of their staff is sales, marketing, account managers and management.

The entitlement to assume all roads are safe at all times even when you can’t see them is very irresponsible.

Some people in some places don’t have that luxury, and it won’t be like that forever anywhere

You’re driving a several thousand kilogram death machine. The luxury you’re referring to is irresponsibility.

These are street tires. Unless you weigh like 10kg the pressurized air isn’t doing much of anything for dampening.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 8 and Huawei Band 8 are rather nice watches that do essentially the same thing as the very expensive smart watches for about $40 and they last about 2 weeks

Srsly… Anything else takes too many gestures to get anything done. I don’t want to swipe up from the bottom of my screen to get recently used. I want to swipe in the middle where it’s easy to reach.

This is exactly what I’m suspecting of happening

I accidentally included the #link part. Should be working…

It claims to have a [Dimensity 9000](https://nanoreview.net/en/soc/mediatek-dimensity-9000) SoC and if you include 12GB of RAM this seems pretty powerful for a very inexpensive price. I can't find any reviews on it though. Any thoughts? Edit: Not sure why the Aliexpress link doesn't work but here's the screenshot and specs ![](https://lemmy.ca/pictrs/image/742919ab-cbac-46e8-b92a-8885a111f3e6.png) ``` Model No.: Tab14 CPU: Dimensity 9000 Deca Core (Latest 10 Core) SIM/TF: 2 SIM Card Slots (Nano SIM) + 1 TF Card Slots (Maximum support extension 128GB) Screen: 8.0 Inch 4K Screen Resolution :2560*1600 Camera: Front Camera 24MP+ Rear Camera 48MP Memory: 12GB RAM+512GB ROM/6GB RAM+128GB ROM System: Android 12 System Battery: 8800mAh High Density Lithium-ion battery Unique Back Cover: Hot Bend 3D Plating Gradient Glass Back Cover. This sounds fantastic but breaking the 8" barrier also breaks my pants pockets…

[Request] 8-inch Tablet?
Any recommendation for an 8-inch tablet? I currently have a Samsung A7 Lite and it's a decent enough tablet for light tasks but wouldn't mind getting something with more -- everything, other than screen size.

Those sliding/expandable screen models looked pretty slick. I hope by the time they get to the Fold 6 it’ll just be an expandable stick phone rather than actually folding.
