Claymores and mines will not be destroyed when a player dies. However, only 4 can be placed at a time. If a player tries to place a 5th claymore or mine, the first one will be destroyed to ensure that there are only 4 at a time.

Play the smaller modes (64v64/30v30). They feel very different and you have room to play well versus just jumping into a meat grinder.

I felt the same so I started playing on the smaller modes (64v64/32v32). They feel a lot different and are way more fun.
