We’re talking about people using a Steam Deck instead so people that are a revenue stream with Stockholm syndrome for yet another billionaire, just one that privately owns his company instead of it being publically traded.

Eh… No

Without implying that desktop Windows wasn’t made with hardware that has neither a keyboard or a mouse in mind? That it wasn’t made to be used on a 7" screen? Sure.

Only in the Linux fanatics minds does it implies that desktop Windows is inferior for games.

It’s not as if people are using the Steam Deck in desktop mode when they want to play games either and the experience on Steam OS in desktop mode if you don’t connect at least a keyboard is pretty shit as well, so I guess that the fact that by default it boots in Steam mode must be a proof that Linux is inferior for games if we follow your logic.

Then I would say that your opinion of these things is irrelevant since you didn’t have the time to truly experience them. In most games 5 minutes is the length of the tutorial section, in shows it’s the beginning of the pilot episode, for movies nothing has actually happened yet.

So you can’t really form an opinion of the games you’re playing then, that’s like saying you didn’t like a movie because your didn’t like the first minute and stopped it.

Games cost more to produce but there’s more customers than ever

It’s very funny to see so many people waiting for a desktop version to switch to Linux on their computer when it wasn’t developed to be a desktop OS in the first place and there’s similar OS actually meant to be used on desktop PCs that exist…

And the more people do the same the less console exclusives there will be (outside of the Nintendo ecosystem)

Yep, they can make a bunch of games that costs them hundreds of millions to make it they manage to make one that brings in billions in profit… That’s what we call gambling.

Yep, to show you that if you don’t want to use epic because of a certain bug then you shouldn’t want to use Steam because the same bug happened on their side

They could afford to do all of that and take a smaller cut if Gaben didn’t collect yachts.

Unless the consumer has principles and wants to give more money to the people that are the most like them, i.e. the devs, instead of giving it to a billionaire.

The launcher has your games on the left on the front page, it doesn’t show games you don’t own, cut the bullshit.

They actually take the time to approve the games coming to their store, unlike Valve…

Sure but them releasing new apps without respecting them? That was pretty ironic.

I remember when they introduced material design and people kept pointing out where Google didn’t respect their own guidelines

Feature creep, release the first one, make bank, you now have the budget do just do whatever you want for the sequel and to keep working on it without having to worry about money so if you have a new idea you can just take the time to add it to the game…

Also on a Epic, the base game was free at some point

Also available on Android where the base game is always free

Edit: I understand that some people prefer Steam, it’s not a reason to not provide alternatives for those who don’t care, so thanks for the downvotes, they weren’t necessary.

GOG doesn’t have a Linux launcher either so you’re already using a workaround, stop being a baby and just do the same for other launchers.

Yeah, mostly because it was the first one on the market so people started building their library there and they’re too lazy to use multiple launchers and publishers would rather take the 30% hit instead of going with an option that takes a smaller cut for this reason.

I mean… Who is bootlicking a corporation, the guy saying people need to use the alternatives or the ones saying they only want to use one or two options?

People need to stop fighting in favor of a PC gaming monopoly in the hands of Valve. Shopping at multiple stores is more inconvenient than just getting everything from Amazon or Walmart, it’s still bad for consumers to only have a single source for everything.

Oh so I should quit my job because I need to use Excel because our tools are Excel based programs, that’s what you’re saying?

Dual boot: and we still come back to my tip being useful

Office: I look at my job and most of our tools are Excel based programs, you can’t use Libre Office or other alternatives to open an Excel sheet full of macros and thousands of lines of code and expect it to work

Some people need to use certain programs for work that just don’t exist on Linux, some people play games with anti cheat that will require developer support in order to work on Linux (which might never happen). Hell, Libre Office is nice and all but if you’re dealing with someone who uses Microsoft Office and it’s a professional setting you don’t have a choice, you need to use Microsoft Office because although you can save files in the right format, when they reach their destination the formatting will probably be completely fucked.

I’m so tired of Linux users acting like they know better than others what their needs are.

Some people can’t use an alternative OS, in which case, my tip applies.

Create throwaway account that will never be used except for Windows 11 install and go on with your day, tada!

It used to be the norm that people would work their whole career in the same place… Hell, if I had started where I’m working now back in my 20s I would probably have worked for the same employer until I retire…

Pretty much the norm for office work if we’re being honest…

People who have never worked a job where the tasks are the same every day probably don’t understand how nice time off can be because you can just disconnect completely. Reverse is true as well, people who have never had a job with ongoing projects can’t understand how stressful it can be to go on vacation…

I used to have a job like my first example (repetitive tasks, no long term projects) and being able to leave for a whole month without caring about what happens at work… Damn it felt great.
