Replying from Ubuntu (distro of the month for me) though, so I know other. I wouldn’t say better, just different
Windows is perfectly fine for day to day use. 80% of my PC use (and probably 99% for like most people I know) is in a browser. The remaining 20% is in video games. My browser works 100% the same in Linux as it does in Windows. Video games overall are easier to use in Windows. (I use Steam (90% fine with Linux) and Gamepass, which does not play well with Linux).
But feel free to continue to complain about windows :)
Tbh anyone claiming they can’t see the difference between 1080 and 4k on a monitor at a normal viewing distance is being disingenuous or has vision problems. The difference is very very noticeable.
That being said, I find the step from a 60hz to a 120hz monitor a bigger qol improvement than going from 1080 to 4K. But that’s my personal opinion.
Tbh, if you’re that nervous about crossing the border with data, I’m sure you could find other ways to use the internet and decent encryption (behind multiple layers and/or people with a Deadman’s switch if you’re really paranoia and worried a judge will force you to unlock the precious 4mb worth of information) to protect your data when crossing a border.
Or probably even safer if you’re talking about just 4mb of data: send it from a random address in one country to a postbox in your destination or something by post. Tampering with mail carries a pretty heavy fine in most countries, chances a random postman opens a random envelope to a random address abroad are basically non existant. Security through obscurity.
I like reading about infosec, but some of it borders on absolute paranoia tbh :)
In what world is paying 40usd for a game and 3x 30usd for 500h of entertainment not a good deal? (not particularly aimed at you, but at dlc haters in general)
I am glad when they release a dlc. I get more great content. They get some more financial support.
I am 100% against cheap cash grabs. I am 100% pro multiple well made extentions for a game that allow me to support the studio.
Just a few dlc/expansion packs that were totally worth their money
All Rimworld expansions.
Diablo 3 reaper of souls/ D2 lord of destruction
The witcher blood and wine (?)
Ballad of gay tony
Star craft ones
Red alert yuris revenge
Horizon zero dawn frozen wilds
Etc… There are good expansions that are totally worth their money and add to the overall game.
That being said, I’m not a huge dlc fan and rarely spend money on them if they don’t really add to the game. More partial to spend on dlc for smaller studio games rather than large ones.
World of warcraft and rimworld.
Rimworld fortunately can be paused, so causes less family stress.
Not sure why I keep playing wow, have played it on and off since launch and have enjoyed it, even with all it’s flaws. Get sucked in for a few really intensive weeks after every major patch… My wife hates the game with an absolute passion.
You don’t need a car everywhere. Most non US developed countries have a robust public transport network. A car is actually less practical than public transport for like 90% of use cases if you live in Metropolitan areas. Same for tourism. Don’t need a car to go visit Paris. Jump on a local tgv and be in center Paris just a few hours later from most of western Europe. Why would you bring a car…
Several months and the 8 minutes probably lead to confusion. You haven’t my answer yet. Why do you speak like an orc in third person?
