Then don’t buy it…? It’s just an option if you don’t want to carry an extra device.

From what I hear it’s useful for traveling. You can have a phone and tablet in one.

Yeah it sounds like the success of BG3 probably spurred this endeavor. I was giving it two years to be optimistic but yeah most likely longer.

A tech company is not like a bank though, its value is not just in assets but in expertise. Is the plan to layoff all the engineers or pay them less? Is the plan the company generates profit? What if it can’t compete anymore and is just a money sink? And if you’re just going to sell it for assets then how’s that different from letting the company go bankrupt?

And licensing it out to contractors? That just sounds like a huge money sink.

What does that mean exactly? Is the company expected to compete or just support existing products or be sold to other owners?

I’ve been feeling this with Cyberpunk a bit. But you may think it’s too quest driven to be considered.

Yeah so today there’s more of a spectrum. Back in the 80s and 90s there were far fewer choices.

I get what you mean though, just wanted to point out it’s more complicated to judge older games by new standards. Eg. if Zelda were a new franchise it might just be a fully open world from the get go.

I know some people upgrading Pixels every year because with trade in and sales they only need to pay like $200. I don’t think Sony will take an existing PS5 though…

They see what’s happening in Ukraine where a <$100 drone can kill an enemy soldier. The KDR for their drone aces are insane.

That’s only true if you’re selling steam keys. Eg you are using Valve’s infrastructure. And they don’t even require the 30% cut in this case. If you sold the game using another infrastructure then you can price it how you want.

Is it a hellscape?

The last two GOTYs have no micro transactions. The new Elden Ring DLC is more of a traditional expansion

Indie gaming is alive and well and it’s easier than ever to develop and publish.

As long as they allow different types of play and have quality of life changes. Also improve the interface and performance on PC.

I’ve taken to making them jumping based. It’s not great damage, about 700-800 damage per hit but I’ve been enjoying the challenge.

The damage is bad but honestly I kind of like the moveset. It attacks fast and has ok range compared to any other free ranged option.

What’s wrong with bows? I kind of got bored with my bow run as it got too easy.

Ugh no improvements to the Smithscript Daggers which I’m using primarily.

Yes although they are being sued by developers for not being allowed to sell the keys at a lower price.

The phone can support multiple cards, eg credit cards and transit. Those readers usually won’t work if you stack two cards together.

Ah yes it is rather poorly optimized. Before it I was playing Against the Storm which doesn’t have such high requirements.

Also Mount and Blade provides some amazing single player experiences that are hard to find elsewhere. Get into a battle with hundreds of units, command a cavalry charge in first person while you personally lead a flank from the other side.

I almost exclusively play single player games and honestly Elden Ring has been a huge time sink. There’s just something about mastering it that is satisfying. It has online features but they’re not required.

Oh so they’re just going to do beta testing on the users anyways, just after release…

I’d also say weapon/spell/tool selection as well. They just don’t really care about their UI.

Totally, feats every 4 levels, way fewer feats, and 12 level cap, it’s really so much smaller than WotR. I still enjoyed the combat though, as it’s more refined than WotR (less buggy doors).

Yeah it would be nice if we could simplify instead of add a bunch of special cases.

However it’s easier said than done. In your example for carbon tax, how do you determine the cost of removing carbon? Does creating a new solar/wind power plant count? Does increasing efficiency in an existing home count? What’s the difference between that and just paying for carbon capture? This is what the carbon offset economy was supposed to be about but it’s ultimately difficult to implement correctly and inherently full of complexities. I’m not saying we shouldn’t try, but it’s really hard to simplify some things.

I think there’s evidence to show that even though punishments may be heavy, if the chance of getting caught is low people will still do it. So that means you’d need to increase surveillance and enforcement which comes with it’s own issues.

I’d like to think most democracies would enact some socialist policies if there was less money involved in politics… but I’m not sure what the best way to prevent that is.

You can craft laws but the legal system is also profit driven. And you’d need some way to either prevent corruption or get the motivations to line up correctly. But I can’t think of any practical solutions that also align with freedoms.

Capitalism isn’t a form of government the way democratic socialism is? But to your point, even Adam Smith realized the problems with a legal and governmental system that is controlled by corporations to be a terrible idea. He was well aware that profit motives without limit leads to mistreatment of individuals.

No mention of Pathfinder? I was playing Wrath of the Righteous right before BG3 and it makes BG3 seem so tiny(mechanics wise) in comparison.

Crosswords by Redstone has hundreds of games and can run offline.

I think he might autosell his stock so that wouldn’t be insider trading, but since of the board members might.
