Barcelona has been fined $26,600 by UEFA for Nazi salutes and monkey gestures by fans at a Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain last week.
Honestly, they should be kicked out. For as long as I’ve been alive, Barcelona has had some of the biggest black players in world football and they do this? End their European season today and I bet their fans never let it happen again.
I continue to be surprised how quickly football fans (and people in general) will double down on something they see as not offensive (see Mexico and their goal kick chant, even though the team has been penalized multiple times). They’ll give all sorts of excuses about how they aren’t actually racist, just saying mean things to get under the skin of the opposing players. They’ll do it even more out of spite, since they care more about being an asshole than repercussions to their team (see how they continue racially abusing Vini Jr).
