Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon is amazing.

I love the atmosphere and music. It also has several quality of life improvements to standard game mechanics. Magic has a Light and Heavy cast which can do different things. For example, a heavy cast might summon a creature while a light cast tells your summons who to attack. When interacting with merchants, you can sell directly from your stash without having to carry it all around.

This game’s biggest flaw is its title.

I do agree, it is great. It makes me want to constantly respec though, because its so flexible. What type of character do you enjoy the most/recommend?

I ended up settling on spells in my left hand, sword in my right, dodging like a maniac.

Right up until the last 3 hours where I respec’d into exclusively two-handed sword + heavy armor because

Spoiler for the very end

the game kinda pushes you into it with the King Arthur gear. Imo respec’ing is too easy, and too necessary. The stat requirements for that armor were so specific and high, and I guessed correctly that I wouldn’t need any of my social stats for the rest of the game. Fortunately, I really enjoyed the pure sword combat, so I still had fun, but my character went from light armor spell-sword to plate armor greatsword wielder for just the final dungeon. Kinda odd when you think about it in the RP context.

I really want to get into it, I heard its got a similar vibe to Oblivion but darker. The hooks of Crimson Desert just got into me though so I doubt I’ll be able to try any time soon.

With the high quality of free engines and the resulting explosion of indie games, nearly every genre has a constant stream of titles coming out. At this point I find my enjoyment of a game comes down to how many quality of life tweaks it implements more than any other factor.

So many otherwise great games stumble here. Take the survival crafting genre: basic things like crafting from storage or stacking to nearby chests make a game so much more pleasant to play, but it feels like half of all games neglect to implement them even when players request them from day 1 of Early Access.

@Quetzalcutlass Being able to sell and craft directly out of the stash combined with being able to add items to your stash from anywhere using the bonfire was huge. It simplified things so much. I just wish I could also submit quest items using the stash as well.
