Today’s game is some more Super Mario Galaxy. I cleared the entire second galaxy today and even did the Bowser Level. Galaxy’s Bowser levels are some of my favorites because they feel like a worthy successor to 64’s. They are so outlandish and abstract and windy. They even have the same theme which is one of my favorite tracks in the entire franchise.
On a similar note, i love bowsers design in this game. It feels very lively if that makes any sense, and i love the way the lighting interacts with his model and the wind blowing his hair around. I wonder if they animated it, because i feel like the Wii wouldn’t be able to handle hair physics, idk though. I’ve seen some crazy optimizations over the years.
I also did the Dump star too, and it only took me four stars. It drove me crazy doing it, but i did do it. Having the shake bound to Y definitely makes it easier to do, but it was still a bit of work.
The entire battlrock level i am not a fan of to be honest. I respect it, but it is not my cup of tea. Too much going on and i’m very picky about my autoscroller platform levels. I can do it pretty well now, though it still usually is the first challenge to kill me.
Overall i forgot how large this game felt. I ended after beating Bowser, but there’s around 4 more galaxy’s to do. Makes me wonder how many stars you need to beat it in total. I want to avoid looking it up though to make it a trivial little surprise.
