Obviously the number of PC gamers in Japan was previously -1,500,000. It’s now -4,500,000.

I had to read the article to make sense of it. The “gaming” market in Japan has tripled in size, but the amount of PC gamers has dropped. So essentially, not only do most people buy consoles, a lot of PC gamers have also Switch 2 consoles.

Probably switched to phone gaming.

Regarding the “market tripled in size” I assume that means the amount of sales not users. So fewer people playing them, but they are buying more games.

The original article referenced was misleading and only referenced browser games. The actual percentage should have increased if you look at Steam stats and use that as a baseline.

Or buying a lot of MTX in few games.

I know gaming enthusiasts don’t want to hear it, but a huge chunk of the market is people attached to one or two live service games.

I’m honestly surprised because I see PC gaming sections in normie electronics shops nowadays. But at the same time, I kind of expected this because compared to NA, I felt like less families owned PCs 10 years ago — let alone each child having one of their own — and even less families bother with PC nowadays because of smartphones and tablet devices.
