The report found that illegal downloads and streams can actually boost legal sales of games, according to the report.

This is the real kicker and something that has been observed many times over the years. It makes sense too. If something is really good, people want to support it and will look for ways to support the creators. It’s basically free advertising. People who can’t afford it aren’t going to support it anyway whether they pirate something or not.

There’s a whole bunch of shows I may or may not have illegally downloaded, which then were cancelled due to lack of interest or something. If I could’ve made a direct donation to influence that, I’d have happily contributed like 100€ for the shows to continue.
