The company behind the (somewhat) recent remakes of both the original Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot remakes (which were handled as remakes of both franchises' trilogies), Toys For Bob, have recently responded to some questions regarding their upcoming projects and plans in an interview...

If they stick to just remakes, I’m sure it’ll sell like hotcakes. I’d gladly pick up banjo Kazooie and Tooie with updated graphics and the same gameplay.

But I don’t want them making a brand new Banjo Kazooie game, especially after playing Crash 4… it just didn’t feel enough like those original games. The difficulty was ramped way up, the levels dragged way too long, and the story and characters didn’t feel the same at all. I don’t think they understood what made those games so popular.

I know Nuts N Bolts wasn’t what anyone wanted from a Banjo Kazooie 3, but I think the rendition of Spiral Mountain in itwas beautiful. I’d love a remake of the first two in that style!

Yeah, I think they went a little too hard with Crash 4. I understand wanting to make sure there was a reason to play it instead of the remakes, but sometimes it’s okay to just give players more of what already worked.

The spyro remakes they did were faithful to the originals in a way that was super satisfying to my nostalgia. My only minor complaint is that they are clearly using better physics engine/edge detection, so most of the glitches used in speed running of the games are not in the tfb remake. Beyond that though it was exactly what I wanted; near carbon copy of the ps1 gameplay with ps5 graphics and hardware
