I have finished Red Dead 2’s story completely. This has got to be one of my favorite games in recent memory. They could have just stopped it at Arthur’s death and brushed over everything that happened to John in between the games, but instead they gave us this amazing 2 Epilogues that perfectly tie the two games together.

I got this final screenshot at the very end, after which the game crashed on me which it wouldn’t be complete without for me. Irc this is John and Abigail’s final resting spot at the end of the first game. I love how they end at the same spot in every game. It’s an amazing detail i love.

While doing American Venom, i also got this picture of Micah scurrying out of the tower:

And then also this shot i’m proud of with Arthur confronting Micah’s Henchmen. This shot is probably one of the ones i see floated around the most so i wanted to try recreating it:

During the mission where Abigail and John go to Blackwater, I got a ton of fun photos too. I like the repetition of Arthur’s Date with Mary to a theater, only this time Showing that John got out of the life (or at least a lot closer than arthur did).

I think this game probably is in my all time favorites. It’s the kind of game where after you beat it you kind of feel empty after beating it. Those are the best games and a way of measuring how much i enjoyed it.

RDR2 is one of the best story games ever. It’s one of probably 3 or 4 I would call masterpiece, and it legit made me cry. I connected with the characters, I felt the pain of the gang falling apart, I felt fear and pity for dutch, it was just amazing. RDR2 is one of those few games where you can say "sure, it has amazing gameplay, the side games are fun, and it plays great, but I don’t play it because it’s one of the most fun games to play, I play for the story "

Watching Dutch slowly descend into paranoia and separate himself from Arthur (primarily due to Micah’s manipulation) was a wonderful bit of environmental storytelling. It was a B-plot that was running in the background whenever you return to the gang campsite… But Arthur only really begins to see it after it is too late for him to stop. Because by the time Arthur realizes what is happening, Dutch has already firmly made up his mind about Arthur, and Arthur has already started trying to get out of the life. And Arthur having doubts only serves to cement Dutch’s paranoia.

It was amazing storytelling. It was never about saint Denis, or the heists, it was about the little things you overheard in camp, the gang itself. Truly a amasterpiece

Funny, I went blind into RDR2 and, not knowing about John’s story, the epilogues felt so weird and out of place. I still can’t really get into his story, maybe because on a subconscious level it feels like it broke the closure I had from Arthur’s. But yeah, RDR2 really is a fantastic game. They nailed pretty much everything.

I could totally see how not knowing about John’s story would break the closure from Arthur’s if you weren’t aware. But yeah, i agree, it’s really fantastic

Any suggestion of other games like that ?

Personally for me Silent Hill 2, Alan Wake 2, Fallout New Vegas, Assassins Creed Black Flag, and Portal 2 are the ones i can name in recent memory. I’m sure there’s more that left me feeling the same way beyond that though

It’s a great game. I’m a little biased because that was my game when i was little, but it’s really solid narrative wise and gameplay wise
