Could she have saved him? No.

Could she even have traveled fast enough to be with him? No.

Could she even have communicated with him before he died? No.

He had been fighting an illness for a long time according to the article that few people in here read. To me sounds like it wasn’t something that he contracted that morning and he died hours later suddenly. He had the illness long before this game was planned. And she knew he was ill. But in a world that is constantly looking for controversies and drama, some people completely unconnected to this story are going to demonize the coaches and team owners and stuff like that.

For all we know, the father wanted it this way so as to let her focus on the game that must have meant so much. Not that football is more important but rather that he knew she could grieve his passing after the game. I like to think of it that way, at least.
