Today’s game is Halo: Reach. I got my friends together to get the Par Time and Scores for the campaign. We did it without much hassle. We only had to redo New Alexandria and even then it wasn’t too bad. It was a fun experience to do. I also went through Solo to get all the Datapads, but that’s way less entertaining and only took a few minutes.

Playing New Alexandria, i went a little wild with the screenshots and took over 40. I meant to bundle them all together in groups of 20 with my fancy new pfup command (it uploads pictures in a directory too pixelfed), but i got the flags mixed up. (so if anyone’s feed gets cluttered up by a total of 64 Halo Reach screenshots, my bad). I did at least have the courtesy of compressing them to JPEG before uploading them (I’m hoping for JPEG XL support someday though). Though i suspect Pixelfed already compresses screenshots themselves.

I got these group shots with me and my Friends which i like how they turned out. I did a few with the Falcon’s and in the elevator (Before my friend accidentally blew us up with his fuel rod).

I tried getting a few screenshots of the Falcon in a smaller frame. I really wanted to try and capture the hopelessness of Reach. The first attempt during the glassing? The lighting was off. The second attempt? Not too bad, i feel like it’s missing character though.

At one point i tried to do a sick airdrop by dropping my friend Lavender into the field. The actual drop went well. Pick up? Well… you can see the results above. I got hit by the explosive blast of a Banshee and taken out.

We also did the Package too for the Par Score (Did it first try!). I got this group shot of the opening level, featuring a random ODST who deserves to be their. Poor guy somehow made it through the whole level.

I piloted the Scorpion while my friends all took Revenants. At one point i got stuck on some Ghost-bits and my friend needed to get past. We weren’t sure if we could get the tank unstuck in time so he ramped off of me. It was both practical and looked sick as fuck.

The final level i had to do was the first one. I’ve done this so many times now the opening bit lives in my head. It really is interesting how the Halo games had such memorable opening levels. They really knew how to make an entry.

This run was rather uneventful. I was going to get a clip of my friend fighting the birds like they themselves were doing Reach, but my OS has been acting funny as fuck with Halo, so no dice. The theater clip vanished after a crash. It’s making me consider switching from Bazzite to regular Steam OS (or Arch or something). Maybe i’ll just wipe and restart. But anyways, punching birds, here’s a screenshots instead.

I also was playing with Camera Angles. I did one that put my Spartan in focus, but to be honest i’m not a fan of it. I don’t feel like it fits Reach’s vibes. If it was Master Chief i think it’d work better. Still, out of context i don’t think it looks too bad. I just wanted to fit this in as the last screenshot as i don’t think it’s too bad all together.
