Midnight Suns' game director explains how XCOM's combat evolved into the strategic card system that emphasized "feeling heroic."

I don’t understand how a game about action packed superheroes is helped by bringing combat to a screeching halt with this card bullshit. It’s the reason I played it for 5 minutes before uninstalling

I don’t really “get” the whole trend with digital card games/deck builders.

At first glance Midnight Suns looked like it might’ve been another Ultimate Alliance-type game, which I would’ve been all over. Then I saw “cards” and noped out immediately.
