The version now called “Lawnchair Legacy” was very old and unmaintained. They’ve been working on this new version in the meantime.

I recommend a combo of Mull and Mulch or Cromite instead. Configure one of them to delete cookies and history on exit. Use URLCheck as your default browser. Then you can see the actual link when you click on one, you can remove tracking parameters, and then choose which browser to open it in.

Have you tried LocalSend? Works great for me cross-platform

I personally don’t like it because (on android) it insists on auto-starting and continuously running in the background with no options to change that behaviour. Every time I use it and after every reboot I have to force quit the app. It would be a great tool otherwise but I find that annoying af.

Becoming an ad company while trying to put privacy first seems like a conflict of interests in the making

Cannot confirm. If I type in anything between “fdr” and “fdroid” it brings up F-droid for me.

Niagara Launcher is not FOSS, it’s closed-source. If you want an open-source search-based launcher, there are Kvaesitso and KISS Launcher for example

I’m not sure if that helps you, but there are plenty of search focused launchers for android that let you add keywords as tags to apps as well like KISS Launcher and Kvaesitso

Thanks for the info, as a long-time Nova Launcher user, I was not aware. Good thing I didn’t give it any internet access.

What about CalyxOS’s firewall? What puts GrapheneOS apart?

I read that as “6-year-old or older gamers”. I was surprised to say the least.

It’s in fanatical’s Play on the go bundle currently

LineageOS doesn’t spoof safetynet and play integrity, GrapheneOS does afaik. So that’s most likely the reason

See below

My main reason for wanting gyro in Xbox controllers is that I believe that Windows would then also implement support for it in Xinput. That way it would become a de facto default controller feature and developers would have a reason to directly implement it in their games. Then we wouldn’t be dependend on Steam Input to use it at all.

From what I understand the leaks only mentioned an accelerometer, not a gyroscope. The capabilities without a gyroscope would then be more like a Wiimote without Wiimotion Plus and without the infrared stuff. So no precise positional adjustments, just shaking. The described use-case for it would be that the controller “knows” when it’s being picked up. So not even in those leaks there were any plans to put a gyro in their controller like every other company out there.

I wish more Playstation games would implement this, and Microsoft would finally put gyro in their controllers as well. I find aiming in games with just sticks really uncomfortable, gyro is a literal gamechanger.

The developer of the Simple apps recently sold them to a shady company that will probably fill them with ads

With flatpaks becoming more and more common, that issue doesn’t crop up too often anymore. Mainly for niche software or things that need to burrow deep into the system, like VPNs. That’s usually not more than copy&paste from the developer’s website either though.

But if you don’t like that, you gotta pick your poison.

All I want to do is download a program and click on it to install. How fucking hard is that. I am not a programmer and have zero desire to be one.

For most modern Linux distributions that’s exactly how it works. You have an app store, you look for the program, click install, then click launch.

  1. My current phone works fine
  2. I can’t run CalyxOS or GrapheneOS on it
  3. They are way too expensive
