My phone does that sometimes when the battery gets really low. I think the radio has a power saving mode where it stops transmitting most of the time and tries to only transfer the bare minimum data. Or at least that seems like what’s going on with mine.

The trick is to stop as soon as you start to feel nausea. If you keep doing that your body starts to adapt to VR and eventually you won’t get nausea except in really extreme experiences.

I was like that until a few years ago when I bought a broken and unplayable game that had been abandoned by the dev. I spend a lot of money on Steam and have a huge library at this point so its not like I’m trying to abuse the system. I think I’ve tried to return 5 or 6 games total with 2 or 3 rejected since they implemented the return policy.

Its because the industry is full of companies that are so much worse than Valve. Gamers are used to companies like EA, Valve are saints in comparison to the other major players.

Valve has not been on the side of the customer when I’ve tried to return games. I’ve had multiple instances now of them refusing returns. I’ve been using Steam from the beginning and only started trying to return games within the past few years, but out of the handful I’ve tried to return at least half have been rejected. The last game was only $5 and was literally broken and unplayable, I had 2 minutes of playtime total and they still rejected the return. I had been really happy with Valve and Steam until this started happening. It’s weird because my partner returns games with no problem. Even the same game that we tried together and discovered it has feral children screaming into microphones and then returned it, mine got rejected.

Wow, from the article you linked here’s one of them plotting to wield a fascist mob against a journalist just like a proper villain, in case there were any doubts:

“If things get hot, it may be interesting to sic the Dark Enlightenment audience on a single vulnerable hostile reporter to dox them and turn them inside out with hostile reporting sent to *their* advertisers/friends/contacts,” Mr. Srinivasan said in an email viewed by The New York Times, using a term, “Dark Enlightenment,” that was synonymous with the neoreactionary movement.

Y Combinator seems like a nexus of creepy and unhinged techbros, I’m not surprised they have a CEO who wields antisemitic conspiracy theories against his critics.

That’s good to hear, I don’t use it. As I said, I’ve only checked it out a few times and that was not recent. My impression of it is apparently outdated, or doesn’t reflect a common experience. The times I looked at it there were half naked women in bathtubs and shit like that.

I thought it was pretty well established that Twitch was like a softcore OnlyFans that caters to lonely gamers seeking parasocial relationships, but that’s just my impression as someone who doesn’t pay attention or care about this stuff. The few times I’ve looked at it the sexualized content was obvious and unavoidable.

I felt like mine gave me cancer when I first turned it on, it was the dankest robot fart I’ve ever smelled.

Hisense A9

Cool, this looks just like my Boox Palma except it’s got a SIM.

I haven’t seen anything about it being rooted or rom support yet, but that’s not really my scene anymore. I believe Hisense makes a similar e-ink device that is rootable if that’s a hard requirement for you, although I think I’ve read it’s only released in China so it may be hard to find.

EDIT: From another comment in this thread it looks like the Hisense A9 is what you want if you’re after a rootable e-ink device (and with a SIM so you can use it as an actual phone too)

Yep, it has full play store support so you can install whatever you want.

Onyx Boox Palma. It’s not a phone so maybe it doesn’t exactly count, but other than the lack of a SIM its basically just a phone with a really good e-ink display. I’ve been really happy with it, it’s my favorite Android device since the OnePlus 7 Pro.

No. It’s not generally the CEOs job to cover up rapes and sexual assaults. There’s a line and Kotick crossed it. Whatever money he made wasn’t worth the shit he did. If you participate in covering up for rapists you are not serving your shareholders, you’re destroying the reputation of the company as soon as what you have been doing gets out. Which is exactly what happened and led directly to Microsoft taking the company over.

His sister accused him of some stuff a few years ago but nothing ever came of it. She apparently has credibility issues so I think the general view is the allegations are the delusions of a mentally ill person and/or a shakedown attempt.

Why do you maintain this? None of the details that have come out so far have suggested this, or not that I have seen.

Historians and anthroplogists will likely be the only people who ever regularly access this kind of data if it’s available in the future.

What’s this about OpenAI having a mission to create chaos? That sounds like “AI panic” or conspiratorial thinking on the surface at least.
