Not again.
Just when I was hoping to see some fan games start popping up, we’re gonna get Spyro 4: It’s about Slime or whatever. And they’ll probably lock it behind their stupid blizzard launcher and it will be console exclusive before it makes it to pc etc. etc.
I’m done. I loved Spyro, but it’s time to let a dead franchise rest in peace.
Here are some relatively cheap games to give kids that aren’t fortnite or roblox and dont run on some subscription/internal monetary currency:
Granting fascists access to other fascists to become super fascist groups is the most dangerous part of social media.
Given that most of the main social media platforms now are owned by capitalist fascist dickheads, its only going to get worse.
If social networking like Lemmy or Mastodon were more mainstream, we could just name, shame and isolate these monsters. If they can’t interact with people outside of their group without getting instanbanned or insta-defederated, then they’ll either delve deeper and deeper into their nonsense, until their instances gets raided or they’ll venture out of their alt-right safe-haven and get hit with reality and rejoin society.
I mean Valve once said that QA is the most vital part of game development.
Their classic anecdote is about Portal’s Development. They brought in some players to play the game near its completion and the user response was “Nice Demo, can’t wait to play the full game.” And they decided they had shown the player how to implement basic gameplay mechanics well, but that they hadn’t given the player a satisfying enough situation to use all of the mechanics at once. This is why Portal ends with the most amazing bossfight Valve has ever made imo.
No as a whole they didn’t, but there is NO WAY every single person who upvoted “Boycott Nvidia” posts didn’t upvote “I just bought an RTX card” posts.
Sure yeah, some people may not have flipflopped. But given how many upvotes both types of posts got months apart in the same community, the more likely explanation is a community of weak willed people who gave in to FOMO, decided to memory hole their boycott.
No it isn’t a unified community. But how can the upvote ratio of 5:2 for Nvidia boycott also make sense in the same community a few months later where “I just bought an RTX 4090 TI” is around 7:2.
No, everyone isn’t an actual hivemind, but the likelyhood that every single person who updooted “New RTX card :)” posts didn’t updoot “Boycott nuhvideo :(” posts is ludicrous.
The same community the paraded the boycott turned around and upvoted people buying nvidia. Even if the same people who were pro-boycott weren’t the ones posting their purchases, the community as a whole acted with a goldfish hivemind.
The “No one else is going to sacrifice, why should I?” mentality is precisely what enables this enshittification.
Devs really need to put their money where their mouth is.
Back after nvidias controversy a year ago or so, Reddit was filled with “boycott nvidia!” Posts, promises not to buy nvidia gpus, etc. then about 3 months later Reddit was filled with “Just got my RTX 4090 TI :)” posts.
If you actually want things to change, you need to change them.
Boycotts are worthless if you immediately 180 as soon as the controversy passes.
Yet Youtube allows for AI-Generated pseudo-science videos to flood their platform.
