Last I checked 7900 GRE looked good for perf/price ratio.

But I’d wait for AMD to finally announce details and pricing for new gen, I think it’s a bad moment to buy a new GPU until all Nvidia and AMD announcements are done.

Or you could consider alternatives, since Nvidia abusing their market position and customers not caring is exactly why the prices keep going up.

Why? Sounds to me pretty good that people won’t actually lose their jobs over numbers on corporate spreadsheets.

I wonder if people realize that cyberpunk is meant to be a dystopian satire, and not just a cool aesthetic

No, they don’t… For years now most people have considered cyberpunk to be just “rainy cityscape with neons”.

But it’s not that surprising, since a lot of us already do live in a cyberpunk world, except for some of the advanced technologies usually appearing in the genre.

That’s not why. There’s a very high chance Valve is actively working on new standalone VR since some years, there are regular leaks confirming some progress.

GRE

I think it’s Golden Rabbit Edition, which used to mean this was a variant dedicated for the Chinese market.

I think there’s kind of a 3rd choice, WebKit.

That’s where Chromium came from originally, so not really 3rd.

And what else should be recommended?

The choice is basically between Firefox or skinned Chromium.

Do you really want to experience first-hand just why Internet Explorer was this hated?
Here’s a hint: de facto monopoly on browser market that allowed them to control the web standards back then and their ideas were not good.

it has become a sinking ship and I’m eager to see who picks up the shards and runs with it.

I don’t think you have any idea how much work it takes to create a new browser.

It’s not even about the lower specs, it’s the optimization in general.

My PC is a little old, but still fine for most games up to medium settings.
But when I tried FF XVI, which is mentioned in the article, I couldn’t get anything close to acceptable performance with everything turned as low as possible and looking like shit.

Right, that’s why I’m not convinced this will ever actually release.

Abandoning all previous work, and the fact that new devs don’t exactly have experience with this genre…
I’m still gonna give it a try, but I’m not hopeful.

I’m surprised it’s not cancelled yet.

I think at this point its development is even more troubled than the original, which is kinda impressive in its own way.

That’s not really on Valve though.

It’s the hardware makers that needs to step up and make sure their Linux drivers are well written.

I’m tired of having to install patched kernels to get basic functionality on laptops (looking at you Asus!).

I’m still not sure. It’s hard to believe anyone at their company would OK this idea.

Are they actually trying to deliberately kill their brand?

Isn’t Gravity Rush just rumors for now?

Would be nice though, that 30fps lock on console is painful…

Apparently it wasn’t just drama. Steam post doesn’t mention that, but it seems the dev was doxed just before making this decision. :/

This is the exact type of comment that led the dev to abandon everything.

It’s not “the incest game”, the topic of incest barely even appears only if you make several specific choices in the game, and even then it’s never painted in a good light.

usually these things aren’t left at dumb resolutions for no reason

They usually are. You have too much faith in Konami.
If some random guy without access to the source code can fix it in a few hours, then a multi million company has absolutely no excuses.

Steam reviews (at least for MGS1) say this release is literally just an ISO+emulator…

It wouldn’t be nearly as good. VR is what makes this game as good as it is.

Not replying to the dev’s messages and not paying them for 2 years is not an innocent mistake.

What’s your point? Microsoft is easily several times bigger and is a “noticeable thing” in pretty much every country.
