I prefer over the shoulder games like GTA with keyboard mouse and controller.
Controller for general navigation and when a firefight starts to go down, my right hand switches to the mouse and my left hand is still on the controller, resting on the desk. When the firefight starts getting hectic the controller gets dropped and it’s WASD from there on out.
Yeah, that’s a good point but I am very skeptical that Nintendo roms are going to be lost forever. Some of the popular sites are getting hit, but this has been happening for decades. Soon enough there will be a new site that makes it easy, and there will always be Usenet and private trackers that are far more robust.
While this is true I would recommend choosing just a few of your favourite games from each console, in which case you can probably fit your all time fav games from every Nintendo console on a 256gb SD card, and probably a 32GB for all you faves pre Wii.
As someone who has an overwhelmingly large ROM library, I often find I have nothing to play because my library is too large.

Have you ever needed to troubleshoot a software bug that only had discord as a place to look for help? It’s a complete disaster, and switching to Matrix, while better than discord in many ways, wouldn’t change the fact that it’s not good for software troubleshooting.
Chat programs are not ideal for software communities since so much of software discussion is built around troubleshooting. We should stop using discord and instead use forums with IRC channels built in. That way wikis can be built into the site, discussion about important topics is slower and well indexed, and the endless ranting/chatting can still be done but doesn’t take away from the topics that matter. What would be even better is if there were a fediverse style page that handled all of that, so you wouldn’t need multiple accounts fire various software packages.
I’d say check it out anyways, if you’re into retro gaming and/or programming and/or hardware. This guy is great. He was re-making portal for N64 and his dev vlog was fantastic. Eventually valve and Nintendo forced him to take it down (mostly Nintendo) so he’s moving on to other things like this.
Sure the thumbnail is obnoxious but if that’s his livelihood and that’s what it takes to get clicks, meh. I’d rather judge the video by its content than the thumbnail.
I feel like this bot just deletes random sentences. How does the second paragraph make any sense? “That’s key because…” isn’t how to start a paragraph. In the article the key is: “ If you pick up a purple coin and die in a lava pit later in the level, you don’t have to go collect the coin again.”
Why would the bot delete that? Or try to include the sentence that starts with “that’s key”?
The more I read this bot the less reliable it seems.
Bad bot.
Not exactly open world as there were distinct levels you would beat, and warp between.
American Wasteland was the first “open world” TH game. Followed by Proving Ground and Project 8. Although AW was basically the same as UG except the levels were separated by long ass hallways to give the effect that it was one world. No loading screens though!
One need not look far
