I’ve been having a fantastic time with mine. Kirby Air Riders is an excellent sequel to one of my favorite childhood games. Cyberpunk went on an accidental super sale and I was able to get the complete edition for $17 USD. Fortnite doesn’t run like dogshit anymore. The console feels more sturdy and premium compared to Switch 1. An extra charging port on the top makes extended tabletop play possible now.
However I’ll always welcome headlines like this because the more Nintendo struggles, the better they get. Wii Sports was incredible and everyone had it. Switch 2 Welcome Tour should have never been a paid game and none of my S2 friends own it.

“Never discounted” is just factually untrue, though. The biggest hitters don’t reach Steam-sale levels, sure, but I’m looking at $70 Tears of the Kingdom for $47 USD right now on Woot. I’ve purchased a fair number of Switch 1 games for around $40 in the last year and some (like Mario & Luigi Brothership and Super Mario RPG) went for as low as $25 USD around Black Friday.

Microsoft could justify a $1000 console if it can also be used as a full desktop computer. I couldn’t see Sony doing something similar unless they miraculously brought back Linux mode.
But I also wonder if Microsoft will take a legit attempt at salvaging the Xbox brand next generation since they’ve completely blown this one now and are making no steps to remedy it.

Speaking to Variety, Xbox president Sarah Bond notes that the company is working on hardware. While some of the interview focuses on the recently-released ROG Xbox Ally devices, Bond does outright confirm that Microsoft has “next-gen hardware in development.”

The screen thing is really overblown. Yes, there are technical analysis that point toward issues. However most people, including myself and several of my friends, don’t notice anything wrong in real life. Maybe if you’re an absolute snob about display tech you’ll notice something is off but that’s it.
If you are planning to play docked with family then the battery life isn’t really an issue.
If you are only going to use it for Switch 2 games then there’s no hurry to buy one now. There’s hardly any. But there’s a big catalog of fun Switch 1 games you can play on it that make it viable to buy now.

It was fun! It was good take on the 4v1 genre and included characters from all eras of the Evil Dead franchise (except maybe the 2013 movie, I stopped playing before the updates finished.)
My least favorite part though was the progression was severely limited if you only played private matches with friends. My friends and I played for days and barely earned a few levels. We played one match against randoms and got tons of XP.

The Nitronic Rush soundtrack is some really awesome techno. It feels very Tron-esque at times.

It was bleak when they came in 4th in a 3-console race last holiday season.
