“No other publisher would touch the IP with a ten-foot pole”

serious question - why’s that? Remedy has been known for creating excellent story driven games for 20 years. after the success of Control, I’d assume that there would be a bunch of interest

Judgment is a great game set in the Yakuza world where you play as a detective. Great story and gameplay, up there with some of the best Yakuza games

hypothetically, could they use different keys for each hardware revision? that’d help limit the impact as not every existing console would be affected. you’d think they had a plan for this in place after the PS3 keys leaked and their multiple huge security breaches

C# is excellent, but the worst part of it is the Microsoft influence

semi related, but TypeScript, also created by the same guy as C# is pretty good, for as far as you can take a JavaScript superset language

Yeah, which means it will probably never be released on Steam, which is even worse than the timed Epic exclusives where they pay to keep games out of other store fronts for a year or whatever. Even Microsoft and Sony are rarely doing full exclusive releases like this anymore.

You’d think a developer as well known as Remedy would be able to find funding from a less restrictive publisher. Fucking Epic

Why are RGG and Sega working so hard to destroy all their goodwill from over the years ffs

Not an Epic exclusive on PC, yay! I’m sad that the masterpiece Alan Wake 2 was fucked over so much by not releasing on Steam, glad they aren’t repeating that

who’s the worst company who could buy them? Disney? Amazon? Netflix? Oracle? let the consolidation of media into a single mega-conglomerate continue!

Dying Light: The Beast has this, it’s very refreshing. When all players go into the menu (including the inventory) the game pauses. Should be a standard feature.

Next up, Payday 2 servers taken offline and replaced with Payday 2 Enhanced Remastered edition /s

This libel suit was settled in March 2023, with a settlement that “provides for a seven-figure payment” from the accusers to Avellone. Concurrently the two accusers retracted their original accusations, stating that “Mr. Avellone never sexually abused either of us,” and that “We have no knowledge that he has ever sexually abused any women.” They also claimed in the same statement that their previous public statements with regards to Avellone had been “misinterpreted”.

It’s because it has “frequent nudity” which you might be filtering out

Online services includes firmware updates, and many new first party games require the newest firmware as of release to be installed

It was interesting. Added a roguelite aspect to the dungeons, which could work if it’s implemented well, but is pretty overdone at this point. The shop part is pretty similar with a few additions. Performance was pretty bad and was unplayable on SteamDeck.

Overall, I’ll wait for the full release and see how the reviews look. I like the developers and hope it does well.

Hardware, yes. Software? idk. Game Pass is pretty awesome value atm

Seconding Yakuza. There’s about 10 games in the series, all are pretty great to amazing. The older ones are all dirt cheap and often go on sale by 50%

Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami or Like a Dragon are all good starting points

Totally agree with you. I was a huge fan of Doom 2016 but couldn’t get into Doom Eternal. Will reserve judgement until this is released, but I get the feeling I won’t like this one either.

Most 1st party Nintendo games are pretty solid at launch
