I read it and I think I understand why people are using it, but just to clarify your Google play example: you still can’t use it without being signed into Google account, right? Is your concern what the app does while it’s not running? Because it feels like they’ll still collect the same amount of info once your sign in to install the apps.

Do you you try to use F-droid for most things?

Does anything related to money work on GOS? Bank apps, check deposits, credit card apps, nfc payments? Any other apps/features disabled by Google?

Seems like a huge sacrifice for perceived privacy improvement.

How is this significantly different from using vanilla Android without signing into any Google accounts?

You also don’t buy a painting for the frame, but it sure helps.

Box art was also awesome. Now they can just shit on the box and people will still pay $2k for a new gpu.

They might only because they were forced by EU and the problem above remains. It will continue being a closed ecosystem with no other options for consumers.

I just feel that on Linux if you stay too long on software after a newer, shinier tool is available - you quickly get left behind. And it’s not like Wayland is some alpha software from an obscure dev. I’ve been daily driving it for years on my work/fun laptop with very few issues. And it did solve a few problems for me mostly to do with multi monitor setup.

I’m not defending Nvidia, but my Nvidia laptop works prefectly fine with Wayland. And then I wanted to play games so I bought an egpu enclosure and put 1080ti in there and it worked prefectly fine OOB. Then I wanted to upgrade so I put 7900xtx in there and no driver, version, config or voodoo allowed me to use it.

Not to mention VERY limited compatibility with ML libraries.

I’m using Nvidia with Wayland without any issues. What’s the problem exactly?

I have pixel 7 pro. Total piece of shit. Spam blocking is nice and camera is great but everything else sucks. I’m definitely upgrading to oneplus as soon as 12 comes out now that they brought back wireless charging.

I use cloudflare for DNS. Site opens just fine, but videos never play.

Does piped not work on mobile browsers? I’ve never been able to play a single video on Firefox on Android.
