Okay, so all they’re saying is that they won’t certify any monitor under 144 for FreeSync technology. Okay? That basically changes nothing. If you are using a 60hz monitor, basic vsync is all you need.

Enough people are naive enough to buy into a live service game with a Harry Potter coat of paint. Just look at the first game, a paint by numbers “baby’s first RPG” that made serious bank off of millions of oblivious gamers and transphobes.

If they absolutely had to remake it, make it the ultimate love letter to fans. Call up Toriyama-san, get him directing artists to make the updated 3D character models, allow players to switch between old and new OSTs, if they’re not going to do a complete open world 3D overhaul then allow players to toggle between old and new graphics if it’s more of a remaster than a remake, update the motorcycle race so that Johnny doesn’t psychically know where you are at all times to bounce you 1000 times, fix some of the endgame stuff with the Black Omen so that it’s not just a repetitive dungeon you do 4x, but has more impact on the world.

Dunno, couple of ideas off the top of my head. OG Chrono Trigger still plays so well, the sprites are perfect, the OST is s-tier, and if it’s not the best it’s easily in the top 3 best 16-bit RPGs.

It’s simple: YOU DON’T HAVE TO SET UP ONEDRIVE.

Record High! For Ubisoft! On a Thursday! Between the hours of 11am and 12pm! Sparkling white wine for everyone!

I wonder what folks’ reaction will be. Will they pull a GTA Definitive Edition and fuck it up with a bad AI uprez? Will gamers still feel entertained by a one-note gameplay mechanic? I love MP, but I recently replayed 1 + 2 and they feel quaint by today’s standards. The bullet time thing would be a nifty little tech demo in 2024.

The vast majority of people pirating TOTK are just stealing it.

Surely people downloaded BOTW more times than TOTK over the 5+ years Yuzu has been around.

They didn’t expect it to happen because of all of the landmark rulings in the past that emulators are inherently not illegal unless they provide bios to the end user. The only reason why Nintendo is acting now instead of years ago when Yuzu first hit the scene is because it’s in basically a fully working state now and they somehow verified that 1,000,000 people downloaded TOTK. I suspect far more copies of BOTW and Mario Odyssey were downloaded prior.

He’s a real “PC Gamer’s Reviewer”. Sometimes the best games already came out and I haven’t played them yet!

What is a AAA game? A game released by a large publisher? Is that the only criteria? Then the answer is “money”.

If a AAA game has to meet some level of quality control before it’s called AAA, why is Ubisoft and EA considered AAA?

Older gamers understand that AAA = bad. Large publishers = bad. etc.

It’s a shame that most of the industry’s sales are from kids under the age of 14. They don’t know that they’re buying garbage. They don’t know that Ubisoft is 95% trash or that 2K is 95% trash. If it has colorful lights, kids want to play it.

It’s times like this where I’m reminded of people like Chris Sawyer, Rand and Robin Miller, Markus Persson, Maddy Thorson and Noel Berry, and I wonder how much in the way of cash infusions and investors and bureaucracy made their games legendary.

Not really mad about it. It’s an older type of game, mechanics are almost obsolete even by arcade standards. This is an easy money maker for Sega and probably won’t cost very much for them to implement. I doubt anyone is expecting a legitimately new Crazy Taxi single player game anymore.

Stakeholders aren’t necessarily shareholders.

They’re talking about being a publicly traded company. Of course every company has stakeholders. Of course everyone who works at Larian likes getting paid for their work.

Isn’t this what the ESRB rating description is for? We label games M for Mature if there’s swearing, blood, violence, and sex, but not for insensitive cultural stereotypes?

They add good content but you absolutely can enjoy the game without them

Respectfully…such as?

Dumb fucks kept giving shitty publishers like Activision and Ubisoft money for microtransactions, so those companies did what any good capitalist would do: see how much you can fleece the idiots.

If youre still playing D4, I dont know what to tell you. Most people who pay attention to industry news and the game design philosophy of Blizzard knew well enough to pass it over.

It’s 1000% capitalism bro. The thing you’re describing is commerce. Commerce is the act of doing business. Goods/Services for Consideration.

Drop the history lesson. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

I assume, based on the format of Twitter/Mastodon, as well as using Twitter for many years, that Mastodon is full of Libertarian cutting edge tech bros that see capitalism as a natural order of things.

It’s only controversial if you were misled. If it’s just $30 for a different colored TP, then it’s just bad business and if anyone bought it, foolish consumers.

What did they have to provide context for in the Master Collection?

As much as I agree with your opinion on save scumming, truth is all of the Infinity Engine games were like this as well. Even if you’re a seasoned D&D player, it’s all too easy to get completely wiped in the dungeon at the beginning of BG2 to an imp because barely any of your party’s attack rolls are successful at Lvl 1.

It has better reviews than Jedi Survivor on Steam. I think the problem is that they didn’t market it whatsoever. Gamers have to know about games in order to buy them.

Imagine if the Heretic series dropped in 2024 instead of the 90s? I feel like people would go crazy for that game with a modern engine and level design.

They use Borderlands as the poster child for too many numbers on screen, but I think that was intentional. The beauty of endgame Borderlands is seeing the ludicrous amount of bullshit on screen at one time.

People forget, but Ubisoft had the same reputation 10 years ago they have today. Even 10 years ago the prediction was this game was gonna be ass. Delay delay delay, people have played Sea of Thieves to death and are onto new things, THEN Ubi drops a lacklustre beta where you can’t even get out of your ship. Yup. Sounds about right.

If they rectify your problem, then everyone wins. You have leverage.

In cases of sexual harassment and/or racism, HR is more or less there to protect everyone. If they can successfully manage to eliminate the sexual harassment, you win by not being sexually harassed, and the company wins because now you don’t need to sue them. What everyone has to remember is that you have leverage when you walk into HR as a worker. You’re letting them know that you have a grievance that is a violation of labor law. It’s in everyone’s best interest to let you speak.

Why anyone would buy a Paradox game during the 1st year of release is beyond me. This happens literally every time they put out a game. Give it a year or two and it’ll be the best city builder out there.

Young people desperate to get a job in the gaming industry take a job at “The Company That Made The 90s Awesome”. They know it’s shitty, but it’s a solid resumé bullet point.

They had one last hurrah with Overwatch thanks to Papa Jeff being one of the last old heads still at Blizzard, but when he left it was quite obvious the party was over. I miss those Diablo 2/Warcraft III days so bad.

The writing was on the wall with Diablo 3. Something happened with the corporate structure within Blizzard that transformed their game design philosophy from S-tier best experiences in the industry to half-cocked MTX funnels and over-promoted esports. I wonder what enshittified Blizzard.

Ubisoft can’t even fathom how Capcom manages to put out unique quality games consistently. Completely different universe of game design philosophy.
