Question: Does a higher refresh rate monitor make sense?

For non esports stuff, do you think high refresh rate monitors, 144Hz for example, make sense? The difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS is titanic. Does that carry over to higher than 60 FPS or do you get diminishing returns?

Thanks to modern video games being barely functional slop most of the time, I got into emulation. All these games work beautifully and I have a massive catalogue of high quality games, with creative contents that would not get made anymore today.
