I had a great time with Death Stranding even though at certain points the story was so dumb it actually made me angry.

I just imagine Kojima trying to explain to Mads about time travel rain that makes you old and babies that are half dead that can sense the ghosts so that you don’t die because when you die you explode and that there are also lots of whales made out of goo and that Mads is a soldier but also a baby and then Norman Reedus–

All while Mads is wearing a mocap suit and nodding with a confused look. “So I stand here?”

“Yeah you stand there.”

Comedy gold.

Jank is partially the result of allowing for emergent gameplay where various forms of simulated systems can interact with each other in novel or unpredictable ways.

That being said I have no clue how people tolerate playing these games on console. Can’t even count the number of times I’ve had to use console commands to fix something myself.

The fact they are priming people to expect this is pretty bad.

30fps is not a stylistic choice, it’s due to hardware limitations. A higher framerate with no motion blur is preferable in nearly all circumstances.

Sure you ‘get used to it’, but I could say the same thing for playing games while in a room with a strobe light flashing in my eyes. Yeah my gaming experience isn’t materially different, but I’d be a lot more comfortable in better circumstances.

Once you’re used to higher framerates, 30fps is a big downgrade, with motion blur smearing things around to keep it from looking like a slideshow.

I selfhost Bitwarden (technically Vaultwarden) and I highly recommend it. I was very hesitant to selfhost a password manager knowing that I’ll need access to those passwords in case my server goes down or has some sort of problem, but caching on devices as well as a good backup/restore strategy has helped me feel a bit more comfortable about it.

That being said, Bitwarden’s cloudhosted free option is secure and sufficient for most people.

People complain that it is too complicated to use a password manager until one of their accounts gets hacked and they have to reset their password on hundreds of different sites services from memory.

Let alone how annoying it is to remember which passwords you used on which services. I don’t know why people think it’s so hard to just press a button to fetch your password when you need it.
