Bugfixes are great, I care less about adding new graphic upgrades. I care a lot about them releasing more robust mod tools.

I want to be able to edit the world and new areas and content more than have the graphics modernized with cutting edge tech.

Oh not as long as original Dwarf Fortress, that’s for sure!

I had a friend who has some experience explain how to navigate the interface, and generally what each resource does, and after an hour or two of fussing about I got used to it. Some times I will misclick, because right click is sometimes “go back” and sometimes “show more detail” but aside from that its easy enough.

The core mechanics are very easy. Conquer provinces to increase your domain, build stacks of units to fight battle and test different strategies for what works against what.

I can go into more detail if you like?

I’m getting into the Dominions series, recently picked up Dominions 6. You take control of a faction and try to spread your pretender gods influence enough to ascend to be the one true god. Combat is auto resolved but you can watch the combats and the mechanics are very detailed. I made a god that was a sentient glyph that bestowed fire resistance and flaming weapons on my faction of desert dwelling spider riders. Another time I was a sentient fountain of blood with innate abilities to raise an army of mindless skeletons so I could stack troops in masse.

Its a little clunky in the interface but once I learned what did what it because very engrossing

That might be what the disagreement here is. The sentence is very ambiguous because its not literal, though it can be read literally as you did. The poster is saying “I’m the dumb one for being the only one working in valve who is reachable by the public directly through social media.” Your interpretation isn’t wrong, but without the wider context of shorthand speech patterns you get from English as a first language, it can be difficult to figure out the implied message. English has a funny habit of saying one thing, but meaning another thing.

I’m kind of in the same boat as you. My mainstay for the longest time was RockPaperShotgun, probably from 2008–2016 or thereabouts. Once the old guard left the quality of the site drastically changed, and it became significant shallower in terms of reviews. Not really sure where to get the same kind of journalism these days.

I’ve only played the 2006 game, (loved it. 10/10 game for me) and was really excited for what was going to be Prey 2, there’s still a trailer floating around for it, you’d be a human bounty hunter cast into the wider galaxy post prey 2006s story. Unfortunately that didn’t get made.

I’ve heard good things about the 2017 but have yet to play it! Its been on my list for a while.
