Do you prefer RTS or Turn based tactics
Personally, I'm more an RTS guy playing games such as command and conquer, AOE 3 (first aoe game I played) and supreme commander. For the tactical side I have played the newer XCOMs and Commandos on PS2. I don't know but the turn based ones never clicked for me, I prefer deciding in real time whilst my opponent is also scrounging up for resources and fueling their armies, I find it to be more engaging because you're trying to put more map control on you and time for better units etc. For turn based, it was the core mechanic of waiting for your turn and hoping to fudge the other guy hasn't sussed you out with good placement. What about you my fellow Lemmoid/Lemming/Lemmy user? What's the genre that you like most of the two?

Always Online / Live Service
If there's one thing that rustles my jimmies is that new games will sometimes put on an always online experience even when it is single player. Why the hell do firms do this? What, to make you purchase a copy of the sequel of that game? They surely realise that putting a single player game or any game in general on life support through live services is stupid and makes their public optics look like shit to the consumer. I bought your game, do not expect me to pay up extra or care about your baked in battle pass crap nor the sale your putting out for that gold skin costume. The moment Bethesda were selling HORSE ARMOR in a single player RPG (Oblivion) it was all over from the start.. TLDR - Modern AAA sucks ass with only a few gems between.

It is also nortorious for blessing us with goat cheeks.

Indie games using retro graphics
Two examples of this are : Penny's big breakaway and DUSK from the top of my head. I'm not sure about you but I think the rise of indie games going with the PS1 aesthetic and other low gfx easy to run games is that the past, despite its flaws, was much better. I also think there's a charm with low polygon games and spritework ones, it's your imagination that fills in the gaps. And lastly, I think of the simpler times when you play modern indie "retro" games, no bullshit, you pay the devs, you get your game, everyone is happy. What are your thoughts on indie games going for that nostalgia feel? Any examples to cite?

Marvel Vs Capcom Collection
Oh this one I'm excited for, especially MVC2 since it's been in legal la la land for a while until now. Are you guys going to purchase the collection? The only thing that sucks about is the lack of crossplay which could keep long term playerbase up outside of those who play MVC games on Fightcade.

Hypothetical Game Ideas
What game would you create if you had the skills and experience of a veteran game dev? I.e. John Carmack I would create a boxing game where you play as different fighters that look like the national animal of the country they're from I.e. Germanys eagle and British lion. (So basically, Furry Fight Night( It'd be similar to that PS3/X360 game Facebreaker If you had such skills and know how, what game would you create? Let me know!

Team Fortress 2
Team Fortress 2 is such a great game that I never get bored of, everything from the sound to characters to the gameplay. What are your favourite classes to play as? Mine would be : 1. Engineer 2. Medic 3. Soldier I find Engineer to be fun and at times a cozy experience, let your gun do the shooting and grab a beer. Medic is awesome cos of the potential to save team mates and make grand changes in the match with overcharge. Soldier is great cos it reminds me of Quake with all the rocket jumping and blowing up enemies into mushy red gibs. Especially with The Original. I sure hope Valve listens to the FixTF2 bandwagon because boy oh boy Casual looking a dead horse for these last few years.

The N64
I am probably going to get hate for this, but I don't think too highly of this console. Sure, some of the games at the time were astonishing and well regarded classics, but man oh man do I dislike the controller, it just feels so... alien to hold you know? Another thing too, the cartridge format whilst snappy, suffered from making too many cutbacks compared to the disc format of PS1 and Saturn which gave you pretty much the full scoop. I am sure Nintnedo had their reasons at the time, but to me it was almost like it was a death by a thousand cuts scenario, a really powerful machine let down by not using what is literally the next gen medium at the time. Let me know your thoughts, it is fine to disagree as the console is well respected with both nostalgia and entertainment, I'm just an outlier here.

Shoot em ups & run n’ guns
What are your favourite shoot em or run and gun games? I've always enjoyed playing games such as Gunbird and Metal Slug, both were on PS2 for me as my only proper exposure to those games. Really loved them! What are your favourites? Any recommendations?

Favourite controllers
The best controller I arguably thing is the 360 controller. It just feels right to use in fighting games and fps. I like xboxs layout with the analog sticks. Dualshock comes a close 2nd but was never a fan of the analog layout. I find the n64 most jarring and I get that it was meant to be used differently for different games, but I still preferred the 3rd party options that took it closer to a standard gamepad. Your thoughts?

The PlayStation 2
Ah yes, the super chad of its console generation, tons of great games, dvd playback, and PS1 compatibility! What's not to love about this legendary system? What are your experiences with the PS2, what were your cherished games on the console? Despite it being the weakest of its generation, you cannot deny they managed to craft some excellent games out of it with work arounds. What are your thoughts?

Controversy and Censorship
Now this one might be a little heated, but an example of this happening is the game Stellar Blade, whilst it is still a good game, there was also a sex appeal to it which they cut out the jiggle physics and sultryness out of the game before release. Personally, they could've left it in as an unlock or as a second option in case people were uncomfortable seeing a good looking woman fight monsters and jiggle about but that's just me. What are your thoughts on censoring games? Does it not remove the original version of the lead developers? Maybe because of cultural reasons in your country? I'd like to know!

Half Life 3
As most of you know, HL3 is pretty much the most popular "vaporware" game out there. Something always rumored and in development, but never heard again after a certain point. What I don't understand is why Gabens refusal to expand on the halted development of this game, it would've smashed sales absolutely and be the shining example in the modern gaming scene. It just doesn't make sense, you'd think a games firm would be smacking it's lip ready for another full plate of gamers wallets. Is it because the hype train is dangerous? Does Gaben prefer steam sales more? What are your thoughts!

The Sega Saturn
The Saturn is probably one of the most jaded consoles I come across, on one hand I like some of the japan only games, but on the other, most multiplat games were better on the PS1. Another thing I realised recently when researching about this console is that it didn't really have a "killer app" sonic game that'd show off the capabilities. What happened here? Did Sega leave development time too short on to refine some things about the console? Apparently it was difficult to code due to having 2 processors Let me know your thoughts!

The Sega Dreamcast
It is undeniable that the dreamcast was a solid machine that had good games and a sleek look, but was ultimately overshadowed by the goliath that is the PS2. What do you guys think, how could the Dreamcast kept surviving? Should SEGA thought reeling back the Saturn? It certainly was praised, but didn't get the chance it needed, personally I considered it to be a part of the prior gen (N64, PS1) Let me know your thoughts!

Legend of Zelda
What is your favourite LOZ game? My fave is twilight princess as it was the first zelda game I played. Being it on the Wii. What about you?
fedilink

The DLC I’ll admit is what they are jokingly known for but someone could “find some treasure” can avoid that. But good answer nonetheless!

Favourite developers
What is your favourite developer company? Mine is ID Tech because they made games like the original DooM games which have serious long standing modding support and Quake for some of those tense DM games! What are yours?

Physical or Digital?
Title says it all lads. Do you prefer your games bought digitally on a storefront I.e. Steam, PSN etc OR on a disc in your shelf? Personally on PC I always get games from GOG and Steam because obviously most titles are digital and it is convenient for me. (Despite owning TF2 on disc since 2007! Yep!) When it's consoles though, I always wanna get it on disc and I am glad I go the extra mile for it especially when new games like SF6 are on preowned sales. Look at the PSN fiasco with shows, this is why I prefer physical media on consoles because you can keep it. PC = Convenience, laziness and most are digital only anyway Console = Don't want scummy corpos taking stuff I bought away from me, disc it is. Your thoughts lads?
fedilink

Microtransactions
I don't know about you chaps but I absolutely detest the modern approach companies have with their franchises and games. I remember you'd get the game on disc and that was it. Or maybe a expansion to go with it which improved it 100% An example would be say the mortal kombat games, you used to be able to have all the characters or Unlock them. But now you gotta pay up to 100% the game if you want everything. What rustles your jimmies lads? Thank you!
fedilink

Emulation
What are your favourite games to relive your nostalgia on what emulator? I used to play the hell out of Monkeyball on gamecube so I enjoy using Dolphin for that or Mario Sunshine. Emulation has given me a wide backlog of great titles to play in the midst of "AAA" sludge. What's your impression on emulation? What is your favourite thing about it? Cheers!
fedilink

That is fair, but personally I felt WMR is a niche feature and those with VRs can game using Steam or other vr application alternatives.

I understand that there are people that wanna use this so I get its stupid they’re pulling away a feature that you actually need.

It honestly feels good to be on windows 10 LTSC IOT. None of this nonsense bloat installed and you get exactly the security updates you need sparsed out.

I dread the moment I actually have to migrate to Windows 11 but at least this version of Windows 10 I can use like, another 9 years lol.

Street Fighter Vs Mortal Kombat
Which of the two fighting franchises do you prefer most? I preferred SF likely because I liked the roster of characters from dhalsim to blanka. I would say my favourite in the series is SF Alpha 3. Nice anime inspired gfx and mechanics. Mortal Kombat I didn't mind but I wasn't a fan of the early 3D titles I.e. Deception because I didn't like their soul calibur like side step mechanic. What are your thoughts?

First game you played
Title says it all, what was the first game you remember playing and had fond memories of? For me it was the PS1, and hearing the OG Crash Bandicoot theme song never gets old for me, got it as my ringtone too!
