I thought this was missing in the text too, but it’s valve, they’re well know for treating their employees much better than other companies. Tech interns are almost always paid, even by the more exploitive companies.

I wouldn’t assume this was an unpaid intern or that they didn’t get a bonus for saving valve just because there’s nothing mentioned in the article.

This probably isn’t a hallucination in the classic sense.

This is probably a near copy of a forum post where a user was channeling fight club and trying to be funny. The same as the putting glue on pizza thing.

And guardrails don’t work very well. They’re good at detection tone but much worse at detection content. So an appropriately guardrailed LLM will never call someone a “fucking ######” but it’ll keep telling everyone that segalis have an IQ of 40 until there’s such a PR backlash that an updated is needed.

Great that’ll go really well with teams, teams classic, and teams work and school.

But if it kills everyone, it can be fair.

It’s difficult. Perjury requires intent. If a badly trained employee in a hurry makes a mistake that’s not perjury.

This means it’s legal, under the current law, to badly train your employees and to set them quotas for the amount of DMCA takedowns they have to serve.

They’re not intentionally making false statements.

To stop this, you need to create new explicit penalties for bad takedown requests.

No they’re shit at that too.

Proof of ownership is this big complicated thing with lots of safeguards. If someone steals your title, you still own your car, and you can get this fixed.

If someone steals your nft, it’s gone. The entire point of the Blockchain is there’s no central authority that you can appeal to who will do the work to check that transactions are legitimate.

Anything that happened stays happened, unless the entire community explicitly roles back the Blockchain.

It’s using apps on a non local connection that gets me.

You can still catch most of them using a blocking DNS service like dns.adguard.com but still some get through.

everyone grown up can decide what messenger app to install,

That’s literally what the lawsuit is about. No one is making the deliberate choice to buy or install teams. It comes forcefully bundled with office and Microsoft are using this to push out the competition.

At the start of the pandemic everyone was using zoom. Now most universities and medium businesses have switched to teams. Everyone hates it, but no one wants to pay for two video chat clients.
