Friends and I have had servers up for years now. It only looks like Minecraft on the surface, it plays pretty differently beyond placing cubes of stuff down. It’s survival focused, so there’s cooking and hunting etc. Making in pretty minimal and then you need to smelt the ores down, hammer ingots into what you’re crafting voxel by voxel, and climb up the ladder of materials while dealing with more and more complex processes to make better items.

There’s seasons that affect crop growth and animal health, and your internal body temp is tracked so if you don’t wear warm enough clothing or let it go to tatters you’ll freeze to death in winter. If that starts to suck hard enough you can travel thousands of blocks toward the equator and the average temp will go up as you do. There’s no biomes like MC, areas are populated based on average seasonal temps and rainfall dynamically. Altitude affects these too.

It’s neat.

You’re describing a Steam Machine, and I guess they were just years ahead of their time. 🤷‍♂️

Upon being handed a busted Quest 2 that indeed caught fire, I’ve found a lot of folks online that have had that very issue lol.

Unrelated, I fixed it and noe need VR game suggestions as this realm is the shit.

It’s still a bullshit move, and I’m gonna get some hate here, but you’re not wrong. I don’t think most of the folks commenting played the first game. Fast travel is kinda defeating the purpose of a lot of the design too.

Again, still a silly move for them and ZERO excuse for the character edit vouchers.

They did so well with World and Rise… I’m cautiously hoping they learn from the backlash here.

To be fair to manufacturers for once here, this kind of this is usually due to users not properly securing these systems. The industry is still way behind on proper infosec but they’ve come a long way the last 10 years or so.

Lol “ToadyOne SLAMS the dev on the head, brushing the muscle and fracturing the skull! The dev vomits!”

I’m a pretty heavy PC gamer. I’ve been full time Linux for a decade and it’s never been better for it. There’s like two games my friends play that won’t run due to anticheat, but lucky for me I don’t play those anyway. 🤷‍♂️

My groups new obsession is Vintage Story. Set up a server and we’ve collectively put in hundreds of hours over the last few months.

Help.

I played it when it came out, and I still think about those characters sometimes.

I went into it after two years of morbid curiosity with zero expectations except maybe thinking it was going to be pretty low quality. I’ve put 20ish hours in since Friday and that’s only because I had stuff to do all weekend. Three friends have already hit level 25 after seeing me play it on our Discord.

It’s far from perfect, but I’m impressed and having fun.

There’s aquatic pals too for fast swimming and multiple types of glider pals focusing on stuff like hovering or speedy forward movement. It’s pretty ok. 😁

Damn it… Every time one of these types of games comes out I lose a week to it lol. Pony Island was great, Inscription was fantastic… When Frog Fractions 3 indie folks?!

Beta tester for the last few years here. Game is great and a ton of things were added/fixed by the lone dev left. It’s definitely a time capsule UI/performance wise but it’s way deeper then you’d think from screenshots or a description.

Recommended!

Sure, but minimal gains still add up to more efficient use of what’s there now. I see that as a win.

Lol pirates by definition don’t pay for software, there’s no profit in developing cracks beyond cred.

Which has never happened in the history of forever and I’m sure this will go just fine after he spent a whole two days implementing DRM in the first place.

Have fun! Protip: if things seem way too hard head SE across the big stone bridge on your mount riding past everything without stopping. Feel like that area is easier to get a grip on things then the actual starting area. 😁

Check out CryoUtilities. Can easily store shader caches with each game and eliminate your issue entirely. Yay open Linux ecosystem!

It’s a solid game (and I feel like it’s the easiest one to get into for someone new out of the three), but for a few bucks more Elden Ring is stellar.

I wanted to pick up the Washington and Oregon DLCs for American Truck Simulator, a game I almost never play but it always there waiting for me to pop back in for one run then uninstall lol.

Also picked up Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling Into Darkness (whew, that’s a name alright) because I was just turned on to the show (which is awesome!) and wanted to play it, but full price seems like a total ripoff for such a jank niche game.

Now both are on my Deck for less then I spent at lunch yesterday, and I can get back to slowly poking at my backlog!
