So then why don’t they have regular bulletins in their games showing ‘Look, look! These features will be coming by xx/xx/xxxx!’ ?
Things set the timeline back? ‘Oh no! Looks like we won’t be releasing this on that date, it will actually be this date!’
Seems like a non issue for anyone with a 6th graders capacity for interacting with other humans. These are IT folks, with the added layer of gamers to boot — though. Anticipating motivations and responding to others input isn’t exactly a strong suit.
Edit: oh, beyond that — I have very little sympathy for a developer of a content drip. You’re out for the money, don’t whine when people inevitably get sick of waiting for a little more of something they’ve already gotten maximum enjoyment out of.
It feels like a DOOM movie. I was genuinely excited for the cutscenes because I thought something actually cool would happen, only to get sucked into to yet another railroad dragon section, even worse railroad mech section, or mission filled with ‘kill enemies to break shields’.
Idk, the ‘stand and fight’ gameplay stopped being fun when I realized that 80% of the guns were just functionally worthless and parry spam + impaler would solve all, not some, all of my problems. For 20 hours. Of basically the same mission objectives over and over and over.
I’m just gonna go back to playing Eternal if I want DOOM. ID fucked up DOOM 3, again (IMO).
Edit: I’ve beaten every DOOM on nightmare. If Eternal had ammo economy issues (which is a hill I will die on, even the newbies I got into Eternal didn’t struggle with ammo) then Dark Ages has an overabundance problem. Why would I ever switch weapons when I have the ammo economy of Eternal on crack and switching weapons puts my shield down? Why play a DOOM game if not for all the different weapons to kill demons with?
Edit used disclaimer incorrectly, should have said something like:
Noteworthy point: I’ve beaten every modern doom on nightmare.
This doom game is such a departure from the doom series that it is just a bad game.
The game can be beaten with a single gun and parry. Every single time I ‘struggled’ it was because I was playing the game to have fun (silly me) and wasn’t spamming shield. Every single encounter ended almost immediately once parry spam was activated.
The final boss literally did not touch me. This game was a really really bad joke.
Edit: I am genuinely convinced there is a fleet of shills portraying this game as good and a lot of old people influencing it. Like, they downgraded the game to a fucking boomer shooter. This game gave me destiny vibes, in that it was a very pretty cake only to find that it was filled with shit.
Edit 2: I forgot the most important part; there isn’t a single difficulty related achievement. I know, because I beat the game on nightmare.
No, but kids under 16 are hooked into the content drip on their favorite social media. This significantly impacts the drip, a big part of online gaming is sharing what you have or have done through YouTube, TikTok, etc.
Everybody wants to be a content creator. Nobody wants to be a content creator in default skins.
Night media is a talent agency that was associated with Mr. Beast (you know, during his most popular years) and is still associated with Asmongold (you know, propaganda pointed at young men).
Hasan Piker is the son of a billionaire from Turkey. While I don’t know the specifics of how much money he’s received from him, if any, that doesn’t really matter. The man is a multi millionaire who has made his money on a platform that is absolutely riddled with propaganda mouthpieces. Many people do not see an issue with this, I do.
He also really loves to claim he’s a socialist, yet is a multi millionaire (after buying him and his family a 2.7 million dollar home in L.A.). Too many things don’t add up for me, so I stopped watching him.
All that being said, idk what’s in his heart of hearts. He might not be a bad guy, I might be assuming the worst. Make of it what you will.
Not the guy. I’ve watched a decent bit of Hasan and if you only listen to what he says, not examine what he does or who he does it for, then he probably seems like a champion for leftist causes.
That being said, he works for Night Media and definitely does not put his money where his mouth is. I personally dislike the hypocrisy.
I’m sorry but I genuinely don’t care what game journalists think. Their opinions are about as valuable as mud, and at least I can grow plants from mud.
Every single discussion I see searching up on Google ‘is Outer Worlds good’ are sponsored reviews from people who got the game for free, or B average reviews from people who got the game for dirt cheap. When I find what real people have to say about Outer Worlds, it’s almost unanimous that it was bad.
Yeah that doesn’t track at all with what I remember people saying, and what I remember thinking myself.
I distinctly remember people citing the repetitive gameplay, short campaign, shallow choices, etc. I’m not sure why it was ever a GOTY contender, but there simply never was any way it would ever beat a game like Sekiro. It’s likely that “new Obsidian RPG” drove any hype surrounding the game.
Edit: Disco Elysium came out in 2019, that fact alone tells you that Outer Worlds being a contender was uhh… if not fraudulent, then certainly questionable.
5 million gold costs about 220 bucks right now. If I’m not mistaken that was the price of the AH mount back in BFA, no?
90 bucks for this mount is actually at a massive bargain, we’re talking 40% of what it’s actually worth. Like I get it, you think it’s scummy but… idk, if I still played WoW I would probably buy it - and I doubt I would regret it. That being said, I do not play anymore and will not come back for the mount lol.
Like, technically speaking they could charge double what they’re asking and it would still be cheaper than the BFA AH mount.
Edit: Mad because bad at math.
BotW completely changed the open world landscape. Yes it was a bad Zelda game, it was by no means a mediocre game. That first experience is fucking magical, and has been recreated to great effect in Elden Ring and Genshin Impact (I shouldn’t need to point out how popular both of those games are).
You can dislike that it was a bad Zelda game. Calling it mediocre is just patently false. Granted, yes - I’ve called the game ‘Horizon: Zero Awards’ because it definitely should have won at least something. However, it was not more impactful than BotW.
Bungie splits from Activision.
Releases Shadowkeep.
Shadowkeep: is awful.
Releases Beyond Light.
Marginally better with graphical improvements, but sunsetting content you paid for - so still pretty bad.
Releases Witch Queen.
Witch Queen is much better than both Shadowkeep and Beyond Light. Great ground floor, seemingly a starting point after the Activision split debacle.
Lightfall
Not only did Lightfall happen, we learned that most of the good content in Lightfall was purposefully removed from Witch Queen because they didn’t want to ‘overdeliver’.
Have not played Final Shape, don’t know anything about it - mainly because I had enough of the game after the above. Bungie has been a terrible company for years. Do their devs deserve death threats for it? Absolutely not. Does the company deserve to crash and burn? Abso-fucking-lutely.
No I just don’t read what you’re saying, mainly because I’ve got better things to do with my time than to read a nobody bloviate about something they don’t understand. Your experience doesn’t matter, do you know why?
I’ve refuted your claim that it’s somehow all the publishers fault. You, for some reason, think that Bungie releasing a terrible expansion the first time they’re free from a publisher somehow doesn’t obliterate your argument.
You’re absolutely sealioning btw, you can keep the corpo speak to yourself. I’m not reading it, because it’s just a waste of my time. There are plenty of devs to defend, Bungie is not one of them.
Probably my favorite game, and I’ve played a lot of games
