Devs or more specifically the parasitic executives who want nothing that a money machine look no further than Factorio as a shining example of how to innovate a gaming experience and genre. It is as easy or difficult and as simple or complicated as the player wants it to be and it’s not because difficultly settings. Your playstyle is the difficulty setting and it feels like there is ALWAYS something new to do, or a wildly different ways to do the same things. Also, their mod support and integration is unparalleled as far as any other game that comes to mind. No micro transactions, no ads, just an excellent game and experience. Sure, Factorio isn’t for everyone but the way it has been build, supported and all of those other elements that make it what it is beyond the core factory building sim ARE FOR EVERYONE. These aspects can be applied to other RTS games in general and can make it feel like a brand new experience while still being exactly what draws players into a specific RTS game.

I’m already up to 6 cups of coffee for sleep every night. If these shadow entities who hide in my peripheral vision can stop fucking with me, I’m good for another solid week of Factorio.

Fuck. Factorio launched Space Age and now BG3 drops this on me? Jesus fuck I don’t have that much selfcontrol and this may ruin me.

Even Nintendo did it with a Zelda and another time for Metroid. I dont specifically remamber which ones tho. Players would get soft locked out of progression and you could send it in and they’d fix it. That was many moons ago tho. No way they’d put that much effort into anything these days.

Guys! Guys, please think of the poor shareholders tho. Aren’t they the real victims here? My heart break this evening knowing they almost had to endure very slightly reduced profits this quarter. Thank God there was something that could be done to prevent such a horrific situation.

Years ago, I may have felt the same and I probably did but my life is not compatible with “getting gud” at every game that comes my way or that i even want to play. I grew up with the same systems as you as I know full well they used to be much harder and the challenge was the whole point. Not anymore so much with a lot of games.

I have chosen 1 game to fully invest myself into and that’s BG3. I’m on my tactician run, just as I did with DoS 1 & 2 and I’m enjoying it because I’m willing to do so with that masterpiece of a gaming experience. But I also play other games when I can’t and I just want it to be fun. Hard, easy and everything in-between, I just wanna zone out, forget about my day and watch an interactive story unfold before me.

Edit:typo

I’m 38 and easy modes are made for people like me. I usually dont have the time, attention or patience required by some games to even have a fighting chance in game progression (looking at you FromSoft) I don’t regularly use easy mode as it does make many games trivially easy but sometimes it’s just enough where I can enjoy the story, explore a beautiful and imaginative world and see it through to the end without the bullshit. I usually have no desire to be a hard-core veteran of a game’s mechanics but I still want to play the game. If people don’t like it, we’ll, I’m still 38 and dont give a shit what others think anymore. Just take my $60 and entertain me.

I’d love to give Skyrim another go with my PC as I’ve only ever played it on console. I have FONV on PC with all the best rated popular quality of life mods and it’s still horrendously ugly. I’ve seen others mod skyrim and it looks beautiful.

Character movement. All the animations, running, walking, and turning in 3rd person are about the worst they could be. 1st person isn’t much better but at least you can’t see anything but the arms. My take is that the animations just didn’t match the quality of everything else.

It’s like taking a beautiful road trip all the way down the Pacific Coast Highway from the Redwoods to sunny SoCal but doing to in a old ass rustbucket with no power steering, the breaks are shot and making that noise and it always smells like gas inside but the windows won’t roll down. What’s outside the window is pretty great tho.

FONV and Skyrim. Even with mods, FONV looks like microwaved dog shit. Im mot even a huge graphics nut but at a point it becomes too distracting and FONV goes far beyond that. Skyrim’s sluggish movements keep me completely disengaged, although the graphics don’t throw me off quite as much, it feels so outdated that the immersion is ruined right from the very start.

I absolutely LOVE BG3. Currently in my 3rd play through (as The Dark Urge this time… amazing) and the one and only thing I feel they did a bad job on is their inventory system. They put in the alchemy pouch and camping supplies backpacks but nothing else at all to help manage anything else. You can switch between item categories but it’s really not enough when there are so many items for so many different aspects of game play that even those are not an effective way to manage anything in a meaningful and semi organized way. And the custom/item hot bars need to work exactly like DoS/2 bc rn they just dont cut it. DoS2 had a Inventory container upgrade but it was shit bc you had to move the items out of their bags to use them for crafting/hot bar so this inventory issue has been a problem for Larian for a long time. Larian is the gold standard for game development studios and i have nothing but respect for them but they need to get their shit together with their inventory seeing as it’s a HUGE part of the game play.

Dont forget Hunt Down the Freeman… Remember that dumpster fire? Pee-yew.
