There are some great paid mobile games too though.
I’ve played nothing on my phone but bloons td6 for a year or so now, cost £6 and I’m nowhere close to maximising the content available.
Then you have shorter (but brilliant) games like the room series, monument valley, machinarium.
Not all are F2P microtransaction excuses with an ad every 30seconds. But I totally sympathise with the frustration and don’t play F2P mobile any more either.
Having lots of empty planets is realistic to be fair, but realism is unfortunately boring a lot of the time.
Personally I’m a big fan of the game but I’ve been pining for a Bethesda game for a long time and I will always enjoy a fetch quest where I have to kill bandits. I totally understand the criticism (although I do think it’s slightly blown out of proportion because it’s Bethesda).
Overall, the game is good. It’s not great (yet, anyway) but I’m 30ish hours in and I feel like I’m 10hrs in. The quest line I focused on after getting my bearings seems to be one of the better ones and while I prefer exploring in a skyrim/fallout way I have had plenty of fun just dropping by random planets to see what I can find. It’s at least very obvious which planets are boring before you even land on them. Ultimately in real life I think we can be pretty confident that the vast majority of planets and solar systems would be boring as fuck. Starfield needs some aspect of realism so having one or 2 planets or moons/stations per system that are actually worth visiting is a good call in my opinion.
Last 5 games is a pretty standard way to measure form of a football side. Don’t get me wrong, this table is flattering for united’s performances and that’s kind of the point. Despite our horrendous start and awful couple weeks, we’ve still won 4 out of 5 in PL and bettered every other team in that time period.
Only Brentford could equal uniteds form after this match day is finished anyway so it’s not exactly misleading, and that’d require them beating Liverpool today so I think United fans would be OK with that.
It’s no more cherry picked than most football stats, they’re all chosen to illustrate the point trying to be made, and this is much less cherried than plenty of stats that are used in football analysis, it’s simply the 5 most recent games…
Match day ends today btw, no PL games tomorrow.
My graphics card isn’t horrible actually to be fair. I’ve got an RTX 2070 but it’s on a 10 year old AM3 motherboard with DDR3 in it so it’s time to replace cpu/mobo/ram.
At the moment it’s not playable for me, I forced myself to play the first few hours but speech visual lags behind the audio and I’m stuck waiting for 10seconds with every sentence. I know loading screens aren’t great for anyone but a solid minute for each screen wasn’t doable either.
They’re treated the same because they’re all applied to have maximum fun for the players and to encourage spending. You can also play as Zico or Pele and their stats are reflective as if they played a modern game even though it just wouldn’t work that way. But it’s done that way because people have fun (or more accurately, spend money) playing as a legend, even if they wouldn’t be the same player in today’s game as they were in their day.
Simulation games aren’t striving for maximum realism, they’re striving for maximum engagement and enjoyment. Although defining games strictly by genres is kind of pointless these days because almost everything straddles so many of them.
Because what does it even matter? We should be encouraging women’s football to continue to grow, part of that is making sure it’s fun to play in games as well as competitive on the pitch.
It’s come so far in recent years, and when we’re talking about a game which is designed primarily for fun, being unhappy that women’s stats aren’t an apples and apples comparison to the men’s stats is just silly.
It says that you have an issue with the women’s game being treated in the same way as the men’s game. Video games are designed for fun, not for simulation, and there are plenty of good reasons to have women be comparable with men in a computer game.
You’d have been upset when Tony hawk games had women skaters that could ollie as high as the men too huh? Or got upset when Chun Li won in street fighter games?
Yeah I agree it’s better than most idlers out there it’s true. Having said that, herpes is better than most STIs out there too, I definitely wasted a fair bit of time on idlers but every one eventually feels like a chore where you only keep playing because of the sunk cost fallacy.
Just my opinion obviously, and wtf do I know to be fair, we all enjoy different things at the end of the day I just wouldn’t ever recommend a idler personally.
Love noodlecake for the pumped bmx series alone but they make some good stuff besides too. I’ll have a look at butterscotch as not heard of them.
Ninja kiwi make very little besides bloons but btd6 is arguably the best value games I’ve ever played, mobile or not. Cost £6 and I’ve been playing it daily for 30min or more for over a year, and haven’t even come close to exhausting the content. If you like tower defence games then you’ve almost certainly already played it though. But I’d definitely consider it a very good mobile game (also available on steam/apple now but was android/ios originally so I think we can call it a proper mobile game).
Pitch it well and I may do, crowd funding isn’t a bad thing imo.
If you were pitching a sequel to an already successfully game with a studio attached and funding secured then no, I would not.
