They make broken games. You can stand up for “It just works” Todd as much as you want. He’s not going to give you a special corporate shill badge and pat you on the head.

I’m not a fan of Bethesda in the slightest anymore, and this drives it home for me. I get that they want to update their game, good on them for updating an old game. But they release broken games that need mods to become playable. If they want to keep that ecosystem they need to quit, “breaking userspace” so to speak.

Not every game needs PvP. Helldivers is more of a wave shooter with it’s design intent, so players are scaled to numerous weaker foes, not other players. Balancing for PvP would be a pain, and unnecessary since there are a ton of PvP third-person shooters already.

So this comment made me do some research.

https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/steamdeck/proton

Under “Known Proton Issues” the point “Anti cheat”. Seems like there is a user-space solution for Proton, avoiding the need for a kernel-space anti cheat.

It’s not perfect, and be as paranoid as you see appropriate, but I’m a bit relieved to have found that info. Another win for Proton in my book.

No wonder Bandai Namco are making big statements about game quality. They just lost their golden goose.

Most devs have expressed they’d rather you pirate than use key sites. With the anti-cheat they used that maybe difficult, but a key site purchase usually doesn’t pay the developer a dime. Where if you hadn’t entered a key, you could still purchase the game, even on sale, and support the developers.

Sure, but only after Bloodborne. The PS4 gem locked to one console matters far more to me than the PS5 remake of a PS3 game that I could emulate no problem.

Being carried by From Software, who if I recall are going to be self publishing now?

I beat DS2 pre-DLC and I have tried to restart at least a dozen times. Maybe I’ll experience those some day.

“Let them cook” has been my response to anyone rushing this DLC. The game itself took a while and it was worth the wait, this will be too.

Also, From Software goes hard on DLC. The Old Hunters for Bloodborne is the champ for me, but The Ringed City and Artorias of the Abyss were both amazing and essential experiences for their base games. Let. Them. Cook.

Supposed to be a wave shooter with satire along the lines of Starship Troopers. Like most games these days, it appears to rely on playing with three friends to be fun. Oh, and their new DRM might have killed Steam Deck/Linux compatibility.

Riot: “This Q&A will help regain player trust.”

Also Riot: “You get a rootkit, you get a rootkit! Rootkits for everyone! And stay the hell off Linux!”

Just saw the article about early access premium players having the game auto-complete on first login. DRM should be the last thing on their minds.

Was Kickstarted for all consoles, they ran out of money, Microsoft bought them and left everything as-is, just gave more money. Go watch the interview about it.

Literally watched an interview with Tim Schafer, they ran out of Kickstarter money and Microsofr saved the day. Look it up before calling me out please.

Psychonauts 2 happened because Microsoft bought Double Fine and said, “How much time/money do you need to finish your game?” And basically gave it to them.
