That’s literally when I did most of my PC gaming. What was even wrong with visiting a website to download a patch? It was way more convenient to update at your own leisure instead of having to log onto a service that would randomly install updates every week before you could even start the game up like nowadays.
You could even save the patches locally and when you had to reformat Windows, you could have your games installing before you even had the internet back up, hah.
There was literally nothing wrong with downloading updates from a “shitty dev website” because they worked just fine and the worst thing you had to do was decide whether you wanted to run the install wizard or not lol
Honestly, if one person or entity chooses to act shifty, then it should be okay to be shitty back. Please, let’s have consequences. Let’s not “let it slide” in the name of decorum or politeness. What motivation would people have to act less shitty in the future if everyone just turns the cheek and deals with it? Lol
I was actually writing up a big thing about how I’d gone out of my way to get a used Note 9 with the headphone jack, which also has the LED indicator, and how you could set the LED colors for individual apps. But after spending about 20 minutes Googling and looking for the settings in my phone, I’m not sure it’s actually possible. Maybe it was my Note 8 that had LED indicator options? Or maybe I just imagined it entirely. Hmm
It’s been years, and I still haven’t recovered from the ending of Outer Wilds. I don’t think I ever want to either, haha
