Horizon is like Sony’s test franchise. First Sony franchise on a Nintendo system (lego), the game they bundled with PS5s, the only first party game on VR2 right now (and bundled with that as well), one of the first games on PC, one of the biggest AAA titles to be thrown into the subscription service, and now it apparently had a TV series that just got canned…
Funny thing is that I doubt it actually has the kind of draw that Sony just assumes it does. They’re great games, but I’m not going to pay into new hardware or services just to get more of it.
Isn’t one of the new CEOs from Guerrilla Games?
I bought the original on GCN back in the day because I was attracted to the fantastic design. I had never seen a card-battler before and was really caught off card when I actually started playing. That said, I ended up really enjoying it and have been wanting a remake ever since iPads became a thing.
I think card battler games have come a long way since then, but it’s not bad after you learn it. And it’s nice to have a long, storied RPG to play instead of just rogue likes.
I disagree. Star Wars seems to be doing fine outside of the mainline sequel trilogy. In fact, I’d say it’s the pantheon of secondary and tertiary characters and their stories that redeemed the prequels.
Marvel is fun, but admittedly a bit cramped since everything is kind of bound to earth within a relatively limited span of modern times. Star Wars not so much. Granted, a lot circles around the Skywalker era, but a lot of stories are told that have nothing to do with the skywalkers or anything else you see in the movies. Sometimes they add significance to things we always took for granted, like Rogue One and the acquisition of the Death Star plans.
Am I right to assume you were not a fan of The Mandalorian?
I’ve always thought roblox was dumb, but its kind of just a playground. Kids need a playground where their imaginations are free to grow and thy’re in control. Somewhere they can interact and learn how to socialize safely with other children. When i was a kid, that was a walk to the park with friends to kick a ball around, riding a bicycle somewhere, exploring, and working out some dumb activities to do… Honest question: how comfortable are you with the idea of just letting your kids go to the park by themselves for hours on end?
For better or worse, it seems like sandbox creativity games like roblox are filling that void for some kids. Not saying roblox is an answer to a problem, just that kids seem to be utilizing it as a playground where they get to be creative and in control. Not sure why I’m bringing this up. It’s just a thought that occurred to me recently.
