It generates no new shapes or geometry.
It just applies changes to lighting and materials, basically creating a mask over the original.
Valid criticism for me is:
NVIDIA is an abusive monopoly fueling international cartels partly responsible for the exaggerated PC prices.
Requires high end GPUs, meaning giving said monopoly more money.
In actual gameplay, motion when the character talks creates this uncanny valley effect.

Since when does slop only apply to new images (if ai is even capable of producing new images). The work is not handcrafted, therefore it is slop. Especially if the results are not natural that fits the game or has problems. Or do you think the artist goes through each result and adjusts it? No? Then it is slop by definition.
That’s actually a good point. Nothing I’ve read seems to suggest this is getting rid of texture artists, but it could be a problem in the future. They claim it only alter lighting and materials, so for the moment I’ll take their word for it, but it does make you wonder just how much generative AI is involved.
