The Epic Games Store still isn’t profitable.

We knew the company was spending millions to give away free games every week, but we’d heard it was a bit of a money sink despite not actually paying for each and every copy given away. In case you’re keeping track, Epic Games Store boss Steve Allison says on the witness stand his store isn’t profitable yet. The goal is still growth, he says. Emails revealed during the Epic v. Apple trial suggested the company was hoping to claim half of all PC gaming revenue.

I mean, yeah, giving away games every week does sound expansive. I don’t think anybody expected them to be profitable at this point. They still try to grow and I don’t mind.

Never bought a game, got loads for free, played a few and after my PC crashed out on me last time never bothered to reinstall it. Just use Steam for CS and that’s about it nowadays lol

Since there’s no workshop for EG and it’s nigh impossible to get things from Steam’s workshop unless they’ve been uploaded elsewhere, I wouldn’t even really consider Epic honestly

Hmm that seems like it’s out of context. They said that the goal at the moment is still growth, meaning they’re reinvesting everything they make on it in order to grow it. This can mean that if they stopped the reinvesting for growth it would be profitable.

They wanted 50% of all PC gaming revenue, apparently. Good luck with that Timmy.
