Change is only for company-owned Pixels — for now

This is why I would never install company apps on my personal phone. If my employer wants me to have a phone, they can give me one that I will turn off and place infaraday bag when I clock out.

Use signal or other private, encrypted apps folks. Also, get others to use them so they benefit too.

Pretty sure this has already been a thing

Google is adding a new app to company-managed Pixel phones, which allows IT admins to see all the RCS messages sent and received on specific devices.

Honestly I thought this was a thing already. Never assume that your company owned phone is private, never ever access your personal account on your work device.

The thing is, RCS messages are supposed to be encrypted.

And while I agree with you about the assumption that the company can see what you see on the hardware they provide, and there is no expectation of privacy due to that, I do not understand why Google would expect non-corp RCS messages to be assumed encrypted and therefore private if this exists.
