I read a lot of good reviews and videos about GOS: high security and privacy. There are also other complaints which i can only know through random social media comments: app compatibilities, weird workflow (profiles),
My problem is that in my country, Pixels are very expensive even the refurbished models: the old Pixel 6 is like $500, refurbished one is $300. At that price, I could just go for a low end Android phone.
Is there a way to experience GOS like on an emulator? I want to try it out before buying a brand new phone to install.

I’m pretty sure you can run Graphene on other devices than the pixel, it’s the only officially supported for hardware security chip reasons, but the user experience is probably pretty close to the same regardless of device.
I’m having a hard time finding builds for non-pixels, but you may be able to find and test run it on something else.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/186882061984 Pricing is really location based but a used pixel 8 looks to be around $300-$350.
Don’t do it, pixels suck
I had the original Pixel (codename Sailfish) and eventhough it was 1st gen, it was one of the best if not the best experience I had: clean software, camera is great. Google did some wizardry with their camera via software at the time. The downside: absolutely terrible battery life.
Now that’s astonishingly convincing
Single data point as counterpoint…
My last three phones have been pixels. I skip every second generation because I tend to treat my phones well and they don’t need replacing every year.
I don’t think I would ever buy another phone. Add GOS on top of it and it’s pretty much perfect for my use cases.
Thanks, I know.
