I compared the Motorola Razr Fold and Pixel 10 Pro Fold — and Google is in trouble

Motorola’s first book-style foldable goes up against Google’s best. After looking at both, I found myself leaning clearly in one direction.

You are so right! I used to get high end phones when they were around €600. Now I had to think twice to get a €350 Nothing phone 3a. I fail to see what people see in 1000+ phones, honestly.

I honestly don’t understand why people are paying this much money for them.

They don’t do anything new. They don’t do anything exciting.

They’re not changing the world anymore.

The cheapest available phone that functions on your network does everything that the most expensive phone does except for maybe folding, or maybe it doesn’t have as nice of a camera.

But we are long past the point where phone performance outside of camera quality being decent and storage amount being enough is an issue for pretty much anyone.

So find the least expensive phone that needs your minimum requirements for picture quality and storage space and save the rest of your money for something else.

Of course this doesn’t apply to the grand majority of Apple users because they’re on Apple and they’re locked into that ecosystem and they literally don’t have any other choice because their primary choice has pre-decided all of the following choices.

I agree with you, but to play devil’s advocate:

People are spending more of their lives than ever glued to these devices. Every part of their life is intertwined with it now, they’re basically inseparable. In that context, does it not make sense that they spend large amounts of money ensuring they have the perfect device for them?

to be fair this one folds, its not a ubiquitous slab, they are supposed to replace a phone and a tablet. i.e a genuine phablet

I am sure the highly priced Apple foldable will be a hit… and twice the price.

I got a cheap run out Moto Razr 50 ultra flipabale, my old slab phone was near dead, it’s quite the thing to have a pocketable phone again.
