Shogun, Rome, or the Warhammer are definitely better entry points. I’ve heard good things about the Three Kingdoms too but haven’t got around to that one

The games have tutorials built in. There’s levels of advice you can turn up or down. Seriously, just play the game and you’ll learn as you go.
I love the series, but honestly could not learn how to play Pharaoh for some reason.
