I generally love old RPGs, but when I tried BG1 some years ago, I got insanely bored and didn’t finish it. I’ve always been embarrassed to admit, so it’s nice to see a fan share a similar feeling haha

BG1 is probably one of my favorite games, but I started playing it as a teenager when I had time to sink into it. I imagine I might not have enjoyed it as much if I had first picked it up as an adult, especially after playing more recent titles with better QoL (I’m looking at you, 20-arrow-stack-maximum).

In addition, if you don’t know much about AD&D 2e rules, it’s not as fun. I typically play it with a party of 3 or 4 for faster leveling, or even a duo (I typically play all the Infinity Engine games this way), I find it more fun and challenging.

If you’re not into complex character building elements or slower RPGs, I don’t recommend BG1. Still one of my top 5 personally, though.
