Riots around Beijing resulted in hundreds of deaths, yes, but you’re clinging to a falsified version of events. The rioters weren’t supporting “democracy and freedom,” but a restoration of capitalism and liberal control. The protests were unpopular, and now polling shows overwhelming support for the PRC:
