Yes.
I think time has made people look at Hollow Knight through rose tinted glasses. When I picked up the game in 2018, I got to the Soulmaster and gave up entirely because of its runback, it was just too annoying.
I ended up finishing the game a few years later and absolutely loving it, but runbacks are to this day my main criticism of the game, and I know a lot of people agree about that.
For this reason I hoped that they’d make things better in Silksong, but at least now I know what to expect so it doesn’t annoy me as much as it used to.
I played it recently (after not having played any NFS in like 15 years since I’ve come to hate AAA slop), and I thought it was really fun! The driving dynamics especially, and I was surprised to see so many different cars and so much customisation possible.
Not perfect of course, the music is utter garbage (to my ears) and it could have been more polished, but I definitely didn’t expect I’d play for 30 hours. They were on the right track.
I’d agree if you were talking about MKBHD but for Linus that’s pushing it a little. Of course he’s a generalist, but he still seems to know a ton of technical stuff.
Sometimes I find it hard to follow when they’re talking about how GPUs, CPUs or memory works on the WAN Show. That’s because I’ve never made the effort to dig hard into these things but he clearly has and seems to know what he’s talking about.
MKBHD on the other hand REALLY doesn’t know any technical stuff, you can feel when you’re listening to their podcast that he doesn’t even find it interesting
I saw earlier that it was surprisingly well reviewed by journalists, so maybe there’s hope of it being better than the 3 once they fix the performance issues. I’ll probably be playing it once it gets under 10€ in a few years
