As a kid, I wouldn’t even have bothered with the Sims without cheat codes. And I still wish I’d figured out how to use them in Sim City 3000 - the cities I could have built!


Speaking from experience with open source, there’s literally no way in hell the average consumer is going to make even minimal effort in order to improve anything at all, even if you manage to make them understand the problem. Ask any idiot still on Twitter.

I’m very happy with Nextcloud notes.

I’m using it with Obsidian on my computer though, so not entirely open source all the way, but there’s plenty of good open source markdown editors out there.

What didn’t you like about K-9? I used FairEmail for a while and was happy enough with it, but K-9 seemed like a huge upgrade when I finally made the switch.


On desktop I stick to the wonderful (for Gnome users, at least) @Geary.

On Android K-9 is fantastic, but regrettably I’m currently using the stock Gmail app because I had trouble setting up my Office365 work email. :(
