Hey man, that’s an unfair comparison. Honda engines age well.

The Unreal engine is 26 years old, but you don’t see people telling ID to start rebuilding a new game engine. I agree it does feel like they are just adding things to the current engine instead of actually improving it by modernizing it though. There are clearly some parts of it they need to overhaul, like the “talking head” dialog system, the physics tied to FPS, and the weird lighting system.

FO4 was still a pretty decent game. I still haven’t played Far Harbor or Nuka-World either, so there’s plenty of content for me to go back to.

I heard FO4 was getting ultra widescreen support next week. I’m not going back to finish Starfield. There’s a better game coming. I’m just waiting now.

Reddit was definitely worse than one person’s opinion on a obvious cash grab mobile game. I’m not mad. I’m likely not the target audience for this game. If you are excited about it, be excited. Go play it. Give them your money. They will be excited too. Have fun. Spend. Enjoy.

This is going to be straight garbage. Not only will it be overstuffed with every microtransaction possible, there’s no way to balance the characters while still keeping them true to the comics. Thor vs. Mantis? Dr. Strange vs. Punisher? Maybe you can help it a bit by having some of the classes be dps/healer/tank, and constrain them somehow, but I don’t see how this would ever work.

Outside of a mobile game. If they are making it a mobile game, it will make $2 billion and be a completely unbalanced piece of shit, and everyone will love it anyways and play it for the next two years.

I can only really see it happening once something like the Steam Deck becomes mainstream and people have access to the entire Xbox library through GamePass. As much as I can’t stand Xbox, I hope it sticks aroung because who knows what shenanigans Sony will get up to if there’s no real competition.

Right. Wasn’t Overwatch considered live service? I put tons of hours into it before they shut it down permanently.

“Like” it? No, but it runs way better, and if you are using a high-resolution display, the quality upsampling methods are pretty decent on most games unless you are pixel peeping. I’d rather get 90+ fps with FSR3/DLSS3 with a 5 percent decrease in visual quality over ~45 fps at native resolution.

I bought a couple of newly released games that I would have bought if they were $60 or $80, but other than that, I have been getting my gaming on with cheaper games that are worth the price, like Talos Principle 2 ($30, and worth every penny), as well as older games, like Outer Wilds, Inscryption, Stray, Hades, Spiritfarer.

EDIT: I will add that every game that I have purchased for the full $70 has been worth it. Starfield, Hogwarts (family never played more than 2 hours each), Last of Us Part 1 (haven’t finished), TOTK (haven’t started it yet).

Not rendering != despawn entities and respawn entirely new entities every time your camera changes direction. They also advertised it as NPC’s each having their own unique routines, etc. Talk about overpromising and underdelivering. This broke immersion too much for me to play the game. The second I hit the city and saw how NPC’s were handled, I was done. It’s unfortunate, because I thought the map design, sound, graphics, and gunplay all seemed really good.

Yeah, I’m probably understating what happened to the dev. I don’t know the entire story. I just wish them the best.

Thank you for the clarification. The screenshots for the game on Steam’s site led me to believe it was a horror-romance focused game that heavily leaned on incest. In either case, this is likely not a game for me. Good on the dev for being able to step away from the drama and focus on their work. Shame on people for harassing them.

I’m all for supporting developers not being harassed, but what the hell is that screenshot library? What even is this game? I stopped scrolling after a bit because the dialog looks…gross, at best, if not straight up soft incest porn.

You realize cyberpunk wasn’t the only game they’ve made that needed fixed after release right?

Nope. I skipped those.

I have only played a few hours, but I recall what I thought was a side quest involving pigs, which was a great quest. Are you suggesting that memorable side quests are infrequent and can/should be skipped?

I personally couldn’t make it past the “no object permanence” issue, where NPC’s would just spawn into and out of existence depending on where the camera was pointing. It was like a magician brought a clear cloth to the table to perform a trick, and we could see how the trick was performed the entire time. It doesn’t make his performance less impressive, but it sure would make it less immersive.

That’s unfortunately true. There are not many developers/publishers I would trust to purchase their products on release day.

I need to get back to playing W3. It seems like a great game by all accounts. But, I will not be purchasing another game from CDPR until at least 6 months post-release given the state of CP2077. Not only was it released in an unacceptable state, it wasn’t the game that was promised. There have been so many good games released between last year and this year, I can wait until ~2030 if they need to take their time polishing it and making it a complete experience.

The machines are going too far, we need to shut them down.

I can’t think of a more relevant time to have just finished reading Player Piano for the first time yesterday.

That game holds a special place in my heart. I wish Scott well.

I wasn’t going to jump on it because I have an enormous game backlog, but buying the bundle (pre-launch), since I already owned the first one, was $25. Money very well spent for this game in my opinion.

This is one of the last things holding me to Windows on my gaming PC. Last time I tried it in Linux I could not get it to recognize my Vive properly.

If this becomes heavily used, I will probably go back to reading books for entertainment instead of browsing the web.
