It’s weird being on this site sometimes. Not everyone speaks computer, but it turns out that doesn’t make them dumb, they’re just good at different things. Personally I have no issues doing electrical work but know I would get incredibly frustrated trying to work a Linux machine. I have no interest in learning all that noise because it straight up is not interesting to me and is not worth my time. I had my fill of that nonsense in school. I’d def be a potential customer of something like this that ‘works out of the box’ - honestly that’s the real path to getting people off windows.

I’m guessing the same reason people don’t always reroof their own house, or replace their own home electrical, or build their own bike. Sometimes it’s worth spending money to avoid doing a thing you either don’t want to or don’t know how to do. As I’ve gotten older and more financially secure that’s definitely been the case with me at least

I mean if I’m going to spend time practicing something it’s certainly going to be an instrument and not a video game.

For some people ‘fun’ is the primary reason they play games. If they aren’t fun, they better have a whole lot else going for them. Personally I play games to unwind, so any type of ‘frustrating’ is a hard no from me. I get plenty of that in my day job. But not all games need to be for me and that’s fine. I just wish people could understand that not all of us are looking for a ‘sense of accomplishment’ from playing a video game. I get that some people value that, great, stop acting like everyone needs to be the same

Honestly, I think he might actually fall into the category of cares more about appearing smart than being smart. Not to say he’s dumb, but I do get the sense the reputation is very important to him

Yeah I think as long as the devs are forward about it no problem. I have plenty of ‘hard things’ in my day to day life and I’m not looking for more of that in a videogame. Give me a Stardew or Factorio everytime - I want to relax and design things. Different games are for different people and that’s a good thing. Any game made to satisfy everyone will almost certainly satisfy no one.

So one thing I didn’t realize right away is that in the ship there is a board where the game auto stores your discoveries detective-style. It really helps provide guidance when you feel like you’re out of leads or don’t know what to do.

It actually never even occurred to me that you could beat it. I just figured everyone plays until they get bored
