Good luck! I still have to change things more then Google keyboard but it’s definitely improved

Yeah I feel that. Some things I just find a computer so much easier than a phone to do. Man I hate making spread sheets on my phone so much, give me a keyboard please!

Pixel 8

Keyboard height 109%

Bottom padding default 147%

Everything else I believe is default as far as scales.

The lack of GIF kills me. So I do go back and forth between gboard and heli.

It’s an old version of the Google swipe library. The developers are working on a new library. You can contribute in the keyboard settings!

I don’t use it but this is the first hate I’ve seen for it. Yeah, that’s problematic.

My biggest issue was changing some of the settings to move the keyboard up a bit to match my muscle memory lol

I had to turn it off because this was happening CONSTANTLY. Now instead I just don’t notice that I moved it to another spot and I start typing a sentence in the middle of a word…

My issue, and it took me a long time to figure it out was that, I’m so used to Gboard and I’ve been using it so long, that it’s muscle memory. Changing the bottom padding and some of the other settings to make it closer to the gboard layout helped so very much.

I’ve definitely been contributing.

God I’m such a millennial because I never thought I’d read the sentence “she’s gen Z and as such she’s tech illiterate.” I always figured the next couple generations would just experiment and figure shit out like we did but, phones became the default. Crazy.

Graphene runs on pixel and has a step by step guide on how to install it. You can also put your banking apps in another profile with Google Play services in it or run Google Play services in a sandbox on your main profile (I believe you can set that up when setting up the phone it’s just a toggle switch).

I will say my pixel 6 runs significantly better with graphene than my 8 does with regular Android and it was easy to install to test drive. I did have an issue with Android Auto but I have to check again to see if I fixed it.

To your point about how all the spez lovers stayed there, I just had a disagreement with someone here. We brought up our points like adults and I agreed I missed something in the original post and that they are right. I rarely if ever got to see that on Reddit in the last few years.

My job requires a lot of pulling up maps. I’m sad to say I haven’t found a good Google replacement. Do I like all the ones listed? Yes. Can they get the job done the way I need it? No.
