StarCraft was one of my favorite games growing up. I can still quote most of the Terran units.

I don’t know when or where to say they officially went from “Good with issues” to “Bad with some good games”. Doesn’t help they ignored their work culture for over a decade.

I agree they’re better. I am also blinded a tad, they made Team Fortress 2, my all time favorite game.

But they’re better for now. There’s nothing stopping them from changing their ways when Gabe retires/dies. Maybe they have a private agreement/contract for the next guy to abide by. Maybe they don’t.

All I know is, Valve is mostly good right now. All major players in the tech space had some good intentions at one point (except Facebook). Google used to be about finding content on the internet quickly, easily, and without ads. Now they hide content, spam you with ads and fake overviews, and fight ad blockers.

Let’s not forget Valve started the microtransaction hell of gaming with their crates in Team Fortress 2. It worked so well they made the game free for more people to buy more crates. Blizzard’s Overwatch didn’t make you buy a key to open them, Valve still does.

Will Valve turn evil overnight? Probably not. But when Gabe is gone, the next billionaire will be as greedy to start with. They’re far from the greediest gaming company, but they probably won’t roll back any of their percentage cuts or ease off on the gambling in their games.

And I’ll just have to sign and shake my head as I told people that trusting a company you like remaining a company to like isn’t a good thing in a world like ours.

If you made people’s nostalgia, they will defend you.

Nintendo has defenders. Disney has defenders. Blizzard has defenders. And so on.

People will defend a company for free because they did something cool ~20 years ago.

I’m glad that someone I’ve personally disliked for various reasons is finally having a lot of people see them for who they really are.

Man this dude is a total nepobaby tool.

Good to know the VA isn’t a dickhead chud here. I’m not aware of him beyond this, but that’s at least a small win in my book.

I trust the reliable and reputable experts of laws of EFF (literally founded to protect digital freedoms) and the ACLU (literally founded to protect the liberties that America tries to stop) then some random person thinking more laws is better.

Blizzard probably allowed it because Overwatch is bleeding player count, and then can use the union as “proof” that that unions harm the bottom line.

I’m happy for them and I hope they can do something on even across other titles/teams, but I suspect Blizzard didn’t hire the Pinkertons like Amazon for a reason.

Set up a torrent to /dev/null/ so the torrent is forever being fed into a state of nothing, they’ll loose 100 gajillion dollars by the end of the month.

Pokemon Black/White 1 & 2 are as close to that as you want. Great story, amazing songs that i still hum to this day, and the designs are as solid as Gen 1 and 2.

B/W was the best Pokemon games and the fact so many people got pissy at new material with a solid story and some of the best music to this day, tells me Pokemon fans don’t know what a good game is.

Same for Sword/Shield being one of the top sellers.

“Valve is the savior of gaming” as they invented micro transactions and neglect as many IPs as EA and Ubisoft do, but its okay since they have so many fun sales to tie to your account.

Valve is cool some of the time, TF2 is my most played game, but the moment GabeN keels over, is the moment a lot of people are going to notice that “owning” all your games on a digital storefront was a bad idea, like when Playstation and Microsoft remove games people bought with their hard earned money.
